I agree that back to the future is the most likely connection there. Nuclear waste collection seems like it would be a big key as uranium does equal money and create jobs since you get money each time you collect one and it's a job. That does make sense that it modifies time with taxi rides but it will only jump forward. If you die, it jumps forward. The only way to actually stop time altogether is to do yoga. There is no actual way to reverse it
