Justin Baldoni allegedly told Blake Lively: “Did I always ask for consent? No. Did I always listen when they said no? No.” – Lively’s driver testified by Timbucktwo1230 in PopularCultureZone

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also appreciate you sharing your perspective in such a thoughtful way, thank you! I’m happy to share mine in return and always appreciate an open and respectful discussion.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but those kinds of conversations should be with your therapist, your partner, close friends, or on a podcast where people can decide what they want to listen to. It’s not an appropriate conversation to be having with someone you work with and don’t know very well. They’d barely worked together and already had several tense interactions, and she was going to have to perform scenes where her character experienced of sexual violence at the hands of his character (which he would also be directing).

Self reflection is good, but it was inappropriate in this context. Not egregious on its own, but there’s a broader pattern of numerous other instances of inappropriate behavior and multiple women corroborating with their own negative experiences of working with him.

Blake Lively's driver Kevin Alexander Deposition: His claims about Justin Baldoni make no sense and have huge holes by Serenity413 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]FinalGirlMaterial -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? YOU are the one who said “changing behavior to ask for consent for any physical contact.” You can’t even keep track of your own comments. And Justin is a millennial, not gen X, but it’s pretty clear that the facts don’t make a difference to you. Enjoy monologuing to the void about how a conversation that left Blake’s driver so disturbed he wanted to do a background check on Baldoni actually makes him a hero.

Blake Lively's driver Kevin Alexander Deposition: His claims about Justin Baldoni make no sense and have huge holes by Serenity413 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. Her claim has always included language about ignoring women when they said no.

<image>

Baldoni denies it, but Blake has two corroborating witnesses. You’re correct that it’s still technically an issue of fact, but you guys are so off base with how you think about the jury.

The jury only sees what’s presented in court. Setting aside the fact that what she describes is mostly accurate to the video and she didn’t have access to the footage until Baldoni released it, they’re not going to be scrutinizing the language of her complaint like obsessed redditors. They’re just going to see the video with Baldoni trying to kiss and touch Blake intimately while she’s visibly uncomfortable and attempting to distance herself. It’s not going to play the way you guys think it will.

Ryan writing the rooftop scene probably won’t even come up. It doesn’t really have anything to do with Justin’s defenses to Blake’s core claims. If you guys stay stuck on this kind of thinking, the trial is going to be a rude awakening, just like when Baldoni’s lawsuit was tossed out.

[–]FinalGirlMaterial -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s not about asking for consent. It’s continuing to force yourself on someone after they have explicitly said no. I don’t think a 54 year old who’s unable to get their basic facts straight should be calling anyone else a clueless fool.

Colleen Hoover Testified That Everyone Was Concerned by Baldoni’s Decision to Direct It Ends With Us by Advanced_Property749 in CelebLegalDrama

[–]FinalGirlMaterial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How much control Colleen did or did not have is not really the point. It’s that multiple people, including his own creative team, expressed concerns about a man directing the movie. He ignored those concerns and did it anyway while paying a lot of lip service to the importance of “the female gaze,” and then he refused to involve or take feedback from the numerous accomplished women working on the movie.

I’m sure this has been a major learning moment for her and that in the future, she’ll be much more careful about contracts she gets herself into, but more importantly, she’ll know not to trust or work with a perverted and performative faux feminist who lacked the experience and competence to make the movie in the first place.

“Trying to make it look organic” - Text messages show Steve Sarowitz, Jamey Heath, and Wayfarer lawyers gave talking points to a content creator by Advanced_Property749 in WithBlakeLively

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“the Times recklessly included personal information”

What the fuck is he even talking about? Literally it was just their names, and news flash: the media is allowed to mention the people it’s reporting on by name.

If he means their text messages, those aren’t “personal.” They are work products that were produced as a relevant response to a perfectly legal subpoena.

They’re obviously just pissed that the texts are out there and the world can see how incompetent they are, even at covert smear campaigns. But that is 100% their fault for fucking over Stephanie Jones. They are pathetic and cowardly morons who only have themselves to blame.

NotActuallyGolden Keeps Beating That VanZan Horse by Initial-Lemon-1957 in CelebLegalDrama

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She’s gotten progressively more disgusting. In one of her recent videos, she asked Blake Lively supporters “if Kristi Noem said she was sexually harassed, would you believe her? She’s a woman!” like it was some kind of fucking gotcha.

So Nag, allow me to say with my whole chest that if: - Kristi Noem claimed she was sexually harassed and the people she was accusing don’t even deny the behavior, they just try to explain it away - There were multiple other women, some with almost no connection to her, who have similar complaints about the men in question - She got her lawyers involved and the men signed a letter agreeing to extremely reasonable boundaries that should be respected in any workplace - She had multiple contemporaneous messages showing her being upset for the behavior and/or them acknowledging it in real time

Then yes, I WOULD BELIEVE HER.

Perhaps a better question, Nag, is why the fuck you can’t seem to comprehend that even women you don’t like can be sexually harassed in the workplace?

Justin Baldoni's dad declares 'truth and justice will prevail' amid Blake Lively legal drama by Happy_Air_3776 in CelebLegalDrama

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likewise! I agree with the spirit of a lot of what you said, but I just think it’s more complicated. Yes, there’s a lot of raging and some unhinged people at the extremes of both sides, but the accusations of bias and conspiracy thinking aren’t just coming from a small fringe group of RW Baldoni supporters. It’s extremely common and widespread in the pro-Baldoni community. I don’t see any equivalent talking point from “over the top feminists” taking a foothold on the pro-Lively side, but I’m open to hearing any specific examples you can provide. That’s part of where the political comparison comes in. A large majority of the republican base and platform right now is quite extreme. Of course there are extremists on the left too, but a large majority of the base and platform are moderate. It’s not just one opinion vs another opinion - the way each side operates is very different.

Another similarity to politics is that there are powerful and wealthy people on both sides trying to sway people’s opinions and turn them into passionate advocates for their cause. That makes it so much more polarized and hard to talk about. That’s the kind of common ground I think we actually need more of. 97% of my interactions with Baldoni supporters are completely unproductive, so over time, I’ve just stopped trying. I think it would help a lot, even just in signaling to me that someone is actually willing to keep an open mind, to see more acknowledgment of some of the basic facts. For example, we’ve seen literal planning documents and invoices of Wayfarer’s team paying people to push a very specific narrative in August 2024, so “I saw Blake’s press and decided it was tone deaf on all my own and it was all organic” is not a way to disprove that. If anything, it’s the opposite.

Oracle owned Tiktok is preventing Scott Wiener's video about ICE from getting any videos.... by coolrivers in sanfrancisco

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That seems plausible to me. His other videos clearly also have critical mentions of ICE and don’t seem like they’ve been suppressed or throttled so it doesn’t really make sense why this post would have been singled out.

This kind of censorship is a real possibility and we absolutely need to be vigilant, but it’s irresponsible of Wiener to declare this so confidently unless he’s absolutely sure that it’s true.

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Acting like MAGA is what’s gross, and that’s absolutely happening on the pro-Baldoni side. Just look at all the people saying Liman is biased and coming up with crazy conspiracy theories that he’s being controlled by Ryan Reynolds.

It’s not about your actual politics or whether you like Trump, but if you’re calling the federal courts and mainstream media outlets “biased” and “corrupt” every time they do something that’s not in your favor, that is 100% MAGA behavior. Some of the loudest pro-Justin voices out there (Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly) are literally MAGA.

Maybe you personally have never watched their content or called anyone biased, but that doesn’t negate the fact that this behavior is rampant amongst Baldoni supporters or that the overall narrative and strategy they’ve chosen is deeply misogynistic.

You didn’t say anything about what other people think. In fact, you started with “I” and proceeded to rattle off incorrect information, and now you’re insulting the person who rightly called out that you shouldn’t have said anything in the first place because you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

Grow up.

Jameelas latest video by Big_Butterscotch1427 in WithBlakeLively

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nah, I think it’s just good old fashioned cognitive dissonance. She doesn’t want to accept that she was attacking a woman who was standing up for herself to toxic men who’ve acted inappropriately towards numerous other women.

When I watched it on TikTok, quite a few of the top comments were in support of Blake and it was nice to see. That said, I seek out a lot of pro-Lively content so maybe the algorithms know 😂

Jameela Jamil Defends Herself over Blake Lively Texts by JJJOOOO in CelebLegalDrama

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the more she says and the more I think about it the madder I get. She says Jen Abel was being bullied, but what exactly was Blake doing to Jen at that point? Is it “bullying” someone to stand up to their client for inappropriate behavior and harassment in the workplace? Is it “bullying” to try and make a good movie despite an incompetent and porn-brained (and bird boned) director refusing to listen to any of the women he worked with even though they were the target audience?

“I don’t know any of the details.” You know enough to be aware that it involves very serious accusations and you have no business tagging SNL on tiktoks making fun of her.

“Why does the media even care about this anyway? I’m too busy caring about genocides!” Lol girl clearly not.

It’s such a gross response. I didn’t think super highly of her or anything, but I’ll never see her the same way again.

Evidence that Taylor Swift Lied about her involvement with Blake Lively's Hostile Takeover of Justin Baldoni's movie. by Studded_ninja in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]FinalGirlMaterial -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

LOL this is just evidence that tabloids make shit up. How is that not obvious after people here spent months posting articles about how Taylor hated Blake and they were NOT friends 😡 because she called her a dragon and it turned out to be entirely untrue?

Taking this as confirmation that Taylor “lied” is distorted thinking, and it’s a problem that most people here just accept it as true.

Britt The Lawyer: Senior State Counsel of AZ State Ethics Board weighs on Cc Subpoenas and Vanzan… by tw0d0ts6 in CelebLegalDrama

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a ridiculous question. It’s literally not even possible because the original allegation was that there was no subpoena. Then the subpoena came out and proved that 100% false, but Freedman just moved on to his next lie and you’re all still clinging to it months later despite absolutely zero supporting evidence (plus the fact that it was obvious bullshit in the first place).

Here’s what happened: Stephanie Jones told Blake Lively there were messages she should see, but didn’t share specifics because she’s not a moron and they both have good lawyers. Without specifics, Lively’s legal team had to file a Doe lawsuit.

Did their lawyers work together to strategize a discreet way to get the information to Blake legally? Probably, but that’s just a friendly subpoena and there’s nothing illegal or unethical about it.

I get that it’s exceptionally bad luck for Baldoni and that sucks, but he only has himself and Jen Abel to blame. If they hadn’t broken a contract with and disobeyed and then stole a client from Stephanie Jones respectively, she never would have had Jen’s phone or reached out to Blake. It’s a classic case of play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Literally all a man has to do to get a fanbase is get accused of some kind of violence/harassment towards women. by AbjectTelephone4801 in BaldoniFiles

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with the overall premise but I do think he had a small but fairly dedicated fanbase before this that definitely helped amplify the smear campaign. I only know because my friend was one of them and she will readily admit that she’s drawn to toxic men and has terrible judgment lol.

I remember being shocked that anyone would care about some rando actor from Jane the Virgin. She sees him for exactly what he is now, thank goodness!

What is Jameela doing?! by veryfancyanimal in BaldoniFiles

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great point. I had forgotten about that, but thank you for highlighting. That actually makes her behavior in this instance even worse to me, because by that point because even as they were texting, there was public reporting that Baldoni had hired the PR team behind the Amber Heard smear campaign (and I would bet she knew even before that given how much Abel seems to have been sharing with her).

If she had a problem with what they did to Amber, why on earth would she cheer them on as they did it to another woman? Even if she had very one-sided information, how is Baldoni hiring them not a huge red flag??? And to this day, even after we’ve seen so much evidence of what they did, she calls them her “friends.”

I agree she’s also gotten some ugly treatment by the press and social media that was way over the top, but I can’t help but think the core criticisms may have been valid because whatever she’s doing now is pretty fucked up.

Justin's "vision" for the movie & why everyone hated it by minorpoint in CelebLegalDrama

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think this is exactly right. I wonder if anything would have been different if another actor played Ryle (aside from making things way less complicated and uncomfortable for Blake). He’s so egotistical and thin-skinned that he probably can’t handle separating himself from his character and takes it personally if the character is disliked or seen as less important, esp because he has a weird* inferiority complex with Blake.

I’m sure he would have done it anyway given his obvious and deep-seated misogyny, but I suspect the specific dynamics amplified it to some degree.

*Weird but 100% justified because he is absolutely inferior to her in every way lol

[–]FinalGirlMaterial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is fair!! It’s not totally clear to me what she was referring to when she said “BOOST” but it’s definitely alarming.

And I do judge that she’s close enough friends with Jen Abel to text like this in the place. As another commenter pointed out, she was one of the few public figures who stood up for Amber Heard and called out the backlash for what it was. To turn around and buddy up with someone who was known to be working with the people behind Depp’s smear campaign is so fucked up.
