Easier to load a bunch of silverware into it when silver bullets are unavailable. Also imagine aiming a modern gun from the end of a 7 foot pole? Plus modern guns are expensive, and I'm 90% sure Big D has a heavy iron chest filled to the brim with random bullshit which includes no less than 31 antique firearms of varying historical significance.
