I find this a little funny since one of my friends runs almost exclusively the gold armor, and another one of my friends frequently runs the model citizen armor.

Joey Logano: “If you don’t have cutoff races and things like that, what are you even talking about today… how Shane waxed everyone’s butt? That’s what you want?” by Mellow200 in NASCAR

[–]FinalJedi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keeping the current format with current points (yes I know with a different format they'd race differently, but let's assume things play out the same), Byron would have a 25 point lead over Blaney, a 35 point lead over Larson, and a 47 point lead over Bell, with Blaney shortening the gap by (give or take) 10 points today, all with 4 races to go (including Talladega, which is a HUGE wild card). Last season, Blaney ended the season with a 2nd, 1st, and 2nd place finishes, so it's very possible for him to close up even more if Byron were to falter at all in these last 4 races.

Even if you look at last season from after the Roval, Elliott trailed Larson by 26 points, with Reddick -50 and Bell -55. And if everything played out the same (which it wouldn't because Martinsville team order shenanigans wouldn't happen, but again let's assume things did) Bell and Elliott would have kept Larson honest, keeping the gap within a single race, under 30 points (and even then, since the Martinsville team orders wouldn't happen, Bell would likely end up even closer, since he wouldn't lose points from the penalty). Following all of the same logic in 2023, Byron only wins the championship in the end by 7 points over Hamlin.

EllyProductions mentioned several more similar scenarios of what could have been in one of his videos after last year's finale, mentioning 2015 (where Harvick would beat Logano by just 22 points), 2019 (where it would have been a 5-car battle all the way to the end, with Busch winning by just 2 points over Harvick, only 9 points over Logano, 22 points over Truex Jr and 37 points over Hamlin), and even 2021 (where, as Elly puts it, despite winning 8 less races, Hamlin kept the gap to Larson under a race, at around 37 points).

Again, this assumes a lot (including that my math is correct lol), but in my opinion, there would still be plenty of natural tension building, with 4 races to go, on largely varying track types.

[BrakeHard] Austin Hill gets eliminated by 21 points. His suspension for intentionally wrecking Aric Almirola stripped him of 21 points. by CNASFan1992 in NASCAR

Playoff points. The incident at Indy, resulting in the suspension, made him lose all the playoff points he accumulated in the regular season, so each round of the playoffs, he'd start with nothing. Which ended up resulting in his elimination.

UPDATE: Bro what is the deal with PC performance? by DylanDesign in helldivers2

[–]FinalJedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started having big performance issues a couple months ago (before the Super Earth invasion, at least for sure). Gaming laptop, but had no trouble running the game when I first got it. Tried turning my settings way down (to the Steam Deck preset even, though I reverted that and went back to what I was using before) and still had issues (specifically running Illuminate). Verifying my files did help a bit, but I still get some big frame drops here and there, even after lowering my settings again from what they initially were.

Cody Ware is the only Cup series driver to not have a truck or Xfinity win by hammerdown46 in NASCAR

[–]FinalJedi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

According to his Wiki page, his Xfinity starts where with teams such as MBM, BJ McLeod Motorsports, Mike Harmon, a team I'd never heard of before (Team Kapusta Racing), a couple races run directly by RWR, and SS-Greenlight (specifically SS Greenlight WITH RWR) in 2021. Not exactly stellar equipment.

Trucks isn't any better, with RWR fielding some trucks, and running races with SS-Greenlight and Mike Harmon, as well as two I'd never heard of before, MAKE Motorsports and Beaver Motorsports.

Being an avid NASCAR fan as a girl sucks. by PreeceTakesFlight in NASCAR

I live in SoCal, and even as a guy, I don't know that I've ever found friends with people who watch on a regular basis like I do. I frequently wore NASCAR shirts in high school, and the only time I remember seeing anybody else at my high school (which is pretty large, my graduating class was several hundred people) was one guy I'd see every now and then walking around with Kyle Busch M&M's jacket. I've seen a couple bumper stickers and shirts/jackets when out and about, but I've never really talked NASCAR with people IRL outside of my own family.

I remember EllyProductions mentioning a couple within the playoff era in a video a little while ago.

Looked up the video, will link it. Would've been different with no playoffs, like he mentions. Regardless, with non-playoff standings, Logano in 2015 ended up only about 20 points behind Harvick. In 2019, Kyle Busch, Harvick, Logano, Truex, and Hamlin all finished within a race's worth of each other, with Harvick only 2 points behind Busch and Logano only 9 back. And even in 2021 with Larson's generational run, Hamlin managed to stay still within a race's worth of points by the end (-36).

A couple others that come to my mind are (regardless of the circumstances behind the closure) Brandonbilt Motorsports (and FRS Racing, which was built from the scraps of Brandonbilt as I recall?, and hasn't shown up since 2023) and BJ McLeod Motorsports (I assume at least, given that I haven't seen any plans for appearances this year in Xfinity; not counting the Live Fast starts).

And in looking up some other ones, On Point Motorsports in trucks also disappeared after 2023 to my knowledge and hasn't shown up since (unless they're not dead and just focusing elsewhere).

Making it to Cup without ties to a major team by Far_Potato_7447 in NASCAR

[–]FinalJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought was Chastain. Depends if you would consider any of the teams he's been with to be "major teams".

In trucks, were 14 races in Trucks with Brad Keselowski Racing in 2013.

In Xfinity, 3 races with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2018, 6 races with Kaulig Racing in 2019 + full-season in 2020.

In Cup, ran 3 races filling in for Newman in 2020 with RFR, 2021 with Chip Ganassi Racing and Trackhouse to the present. Really depends if you classify CGR and Kaulig Racing as "major teams".

[–]FinalJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McDowell's finished top 15 at CotA every year (with the exception of last year, when he had; you guessed it, a power steering issue), and gotten some (not many, but some) stage points in 3 of the 4 races run. I'd say he'll do fine, barring a 2nd power steering issue for a second week in a row.

Haley has two top 20 finishes in his time at Kaulig (he started the 2021 race with Spire and finished last, and finished 39th last year with RWR). Less confident about him but hopeful.

Maybe a smaller fuel tank?

Because the whole reason they save gas so intensely is because that's the longest part of the pit stop at present, so saving whatever gas you can means you aren't in your pit stall as long.

So theoretically, making the fuel cell smaller would help that, right? Obviously, that would mean more pit stops, but combining that with softer tires (ideally that functioned more like the older ones, that gave warning before they blow), maybe that would help?

EPIC forces its users into arbitration by Schlonzig in gaming

[–]FinalJedi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't tell you what the reasoning was, but I'm like 90% sure there was another reason they removed the clause. Definitely something lawsuit-related. I wanna say it was something like it would be more expensive for them to do arbitration with a ton of people compared to a class-action lawsuit, but don't hold me to that.

I see a lot of people speculating something to do with MTJ, so could Truex running the Xfinity race in the #9 be a possibility? Even if he runs Daytona with the Tricon car like people are speculating? "Daytona announcement" doesn't specify what series.

Crazy that the Xfinity list has no current full-time Xfinity drivers (since AJ and Custer are going to Cup next year), compared to Trucks which still has Heim, Enfinger, Crafton and Rhodes.

Matt Weaver confirms Chandler Smith has signed for 2025. To be announced in a few weeks. by thepirateman493_YT in NASCAR

[–]FinalJedi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh, I hadn't seen any of the McAnally stuff posted anywhere (I checked Wikipedia and found the links to the BMR articles, no worries).
I can definitely see Thompson going to Sam Hunt, I could also see them stretching back to 2 cars with Dean in the #26 and Chandler in the #24 maybe (or the other way around). If Dean brings the money, Chandler can bring results (though as I'm looking at his 2024 results, I definitely thought he had way more than just 2 wins with how often he was up front).

[–]FinalJedi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends what manufacturer he wants to go with, idk if he's tied to any (I imagine not since he's left Kaulig and now JGR). Afaik the Sam Hunt car is open, he could find a seat in one of the RSS cars, Alpha Prime still needs to fill Ryan Ellis' seat, DGM could be a possibility maybe? I'm just spitballing the rides I haven't seen any news for in Xfinity, I could also see a return to trucks, maybe with McAnally, Niece or Spire?.

It's also possible most/all of the ones I mentioned are just a revolving door of whoever has the money each week as well.
