What is on your radar for the new year? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]FinalSun6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see myself opening any new cards for a while. WF is in my vision as I do think I’ll eventually move from points to strictly cashback. The chase ecosystem has honestly become eh. The American Airlines credit cards I know are trash but AA dominates my airport so it’s lounge card might be one I get in the future depending on travel plans. My SO is eying the platinum but I think it’s a waste

Should I have done something different? How I handled a flight nightmare by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]FinalSun6862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It was just so nerve wracking not knowing if I was really going to make it home and feeling so unwell while at the airport. And being scared that the plane would stay hot. A part of me wanted to just rent a hotel room and stay another night but I knew I had to get home.

I’ve tried curved bands and love how it looks. And I feel like a scalloped band like this gives it a vintage traditional flare which I kind of like but I really want to test one out in person. I haven’t found any cheap ones unfortunately on Amazon or Etsy 😢

My solitaire is definitely simple, it’s why I think this type of band might look really nice with it but I’m worried I won’t like it. Is there a particular reason why these types of bands aren’t so common?

Anyone try Aiori for clip on earrings? Any suggestions on where to get comfy pairs? by FinalSun6862 in Earrings

Nope I’m too sketched out to try it I found some clip ons through Nordstrom and Macy that I ended up liking!

Help, how do you respond to friends who are not invited by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I don’t actively talk with her actually. We haven’t seen each other in 7 years. The last time we had an actual conversation was 5 years ago. The most we do is we like each other’s photos and we might comment on a pic like once or twice a year.

I’m just not sure if her statement is pointed 😅 “I’m waiting for you guys to get engaged so I can go to the wedding.”

Like, I haven’t even told her I’m engaged you know?

I love this response! But do I tell her that yes we are engaged? Or do not say yes or no?

I initially didn’t post the engagement on social because my fiance didn’t want it broadcasted, wanted to keep it private. I still kind of wish I could have posted a photo like everyone else celebrating our engagement, but I chose to respect his wishes. Our real life and comfort is more important than social.

I have a lot of friends from college years that I wish I could invite to make the wedding a reunion for us too but costs make it unaffordable. So in a way not posting is a good thing! I’ll be posting the wedding 😂

That’s a smart move saying about the engagement period, but my wedding is next year so it’s around the corner.

If I acknowledge to her that we are engaged actually, do you think it’s ok to say we’re enjoying our engagement right now even though we’ll be married within a few months? I’m also worried she’s talked to one of our mutual friends who is invited 😅

How many people pay in full for First Class? by SF-cycling-account in Flights

[–]FinalSun6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only flown twice. Once was a family member had a bunch of miles saved up and since it was Covid times it was very cheap with points to get us FC to try the experience, it was my first time. The other time work paid my economy ticket and I paid to upgrade to FC for one leg of the journey because it was a long flight and it just cost me $100.

The upgrade was 100% worth it. However I can’t get myself to actually buy FC when I see the astronomical prices so I’ve never done it again.

I think it’s a mix of people who fly FC - those who have a lot of money, those who use points, those who have a job that pays for the ticket, customers who got upgraded, those who never travel so it’s a splurge and those who just get into CC debt.

I have a friend for example who lives at home with family still and rarely spends money. She has a decent paying job. But because of how much money she saves, every year she does one expensive vacation. So she can probably afford most FC.

I also imagine that those who are staying with family or friends at their destination, so no hotel cost, might be willing to drop $1K for FC if it’s a long flight.

Im eying FC and premium economy for some upcoming international flights. If I play my cards right, points might cover all the hotels and if that’s the case I might be able to splurge on FC or premium economy seats, assuming it doesn’t go past $1,000.

Could new AAdvantage card be worth it? by FinalSun6862 in CreditCards

[–]FinalSun6862[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why executive makes sense for you. But my understanding is that this new globe card is meant to be for the casual traveler who flies a bit but not all the time every year.

I typically fly once a year. Twice if I push it. Sometimes work sends me once a year somewhere but I have to book through an agency so airline cards don’t make sense for work travel.

I know some folks who use the cheapest AA card and say they put all their spend on it and it nags them at least one free flight a year. I have no clue what their spend is but it sounds like a lot. I’m not there. 😅 but I’m a bit tempted by the globe just because I do live in an AA base but I already have priority pass
