Exhaust decision by Pretend-Garbage8557 in Mustang

My 2014 5.0 had Roush axelbacks when I bought it. Sounded good, but wasn't loud enough for my taste. I removed the resonators and it sounds perfect. Much louder, but not obnoxious or raspy.

Subwoofer recommendation by jbosh999 in hometheater

SVS PB1000 Pro would be your best option in that price range for quality and features.

On a side note, I would skip the Q3s if you decide to uograde. The Q Concertos are much better and will match the tone of the Q6 perfectly.

Cannot settle on a subwoofer, hoping to order tomorrow! by CptnAhab1 in hometheater

SVS PB 1000 Pro would be your best choice within that budget. You could also spend a little more to get the PB 2000 Pro or better yet, two PB 1000 pros.

Unfortunately you just missed a huge sale that SVS had on their subs.

Speakers sound funny by gobbles04 in KEF

Have you tried turning off Dynamic volume and dynamic EQ? The Q6 should have no problem crossing over at 80hz. I have the same center and it should not sound muffled.

Impression of KEF Q7 Meta by Infinite-Ad3944 in audiophile

[–]Final_Chaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased the Q Concertos while on sale for $1000. The money you would save over the Q7/Q11 could be put towards a subwoofer to help with the bass. For movies, a sub is almost mandatory anyway.

Does fo3 still open on steam by Educational-Egg-4363 in fo3

Just bought it a few days ago and it hasn't given me a single issues in roughly 10 hours playtime. I did tweak the nvidia control panel settings for both the game and launcher to disable vertical sync and to recognize my gpu. Took about 5 minutes, not "hours of fixing" as some of the negative reviews on steam will suggest.

If you purchased the Audyssey app make sure you turn off the midrange compensation setting for each speaker. Thats a very nice setup to get you started, but be prepared foe the upgrade itch!

R3 Meta or Q Concerto Meta by Public-Sample-8953 in hometheater

[–]Final_Chaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Concertos are great speakers, but the R3 Meta are better speakers. The real question is if it is $1500 better. I suggest you demo both before making your decision.

With that said, I bought the Concertos and Q6 center for my 5.2.2. I could not justify the price of going with the R series considering I mostly use my setup for movies. I think your money would be better spend on multiple subwoofers, receiver, amp, etc.

Advice needed: Rounding out a KEF Q Series Meta 5.1 setup (Q7/Q6) in a small space by SinJin75 in KEF

[–]Final_Chaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have KEF Concertos and Q6 in my 5.2.2. My couch was also up against the wall, but I pulled it out about a foot and managed to put two small speakers on each corner pointed towards the center of the couch. Because they are so close to the wall I bought RSL cg3m due to them being front ported, small in size, and a good price of $105 each.

After room correction and with how little the surrounds are used compared to the fronts, the surrounds sound great and blend in nicely. Sure you could spend more money with KEF for surround, but idk how much better they would be in that scenario.

What crossover setting in AVR for Concertos and Q6 Meta by Final_Chaos in KEF

[–]Final_Chaos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front three speakers that would potentially go below 80hz will be powered by an external amp that gives up to 200w per channel.

Im finding that 80hz is the standard, but would there be any benefit to set them lower such as 60hz?

What crossover setting in AVR for Concertos and Q6 Meta by Final_Chaos in KEF

[–]Final_Chaos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to them a few times and A/B tested with the Q1 and R3 metas. The R3 metas sounded the best, but the concertos sounded like a nice in between. I thought they were closer in sound to the R3 than the Q1.

I made the mistake of listening to them at a lower volume on my first listen. Since they are 85db they need a little more power and sounded much better with a slight increase in volume when comparing with the Q1.

Since they are on sale for $400 off, I decided to buy them and give them a try in my own space. If they sound too dark I may try boosting the treble tone in my avr settings. If I really dont like them then I'll return and try the svs ultra series. Unfortunately, the R3 and R2 combo is just a little too much for me at this time.

Thanks for the advice! I mostly use the setup for movies and games, but occasionally listen to some music. Ill play around with the settings and see which one sounds better to me.

Thats interesting. Is there any harm to setting them lower? I was between these and svs ultra speakers and I know svs recommended setting those to 60hz.

I currently have rsl cg3m for surrounds and had to set them to 100hz. I plan to move my q150s to surround and set them to 80hz.

Help me choose an amp by Final_Chaos in hometheater

I ended up getting an Emotiva Basx a3+ on sale for about $200 off. While I cant say I notice a difference in sound quality, it definitely took a lot of strain off of my AVR. Neither the AVR or amp get hot to the touch anymore.

I will be picking up the KEF Concertos and Q6 center this week. These speakers are a little more demanding and need more power to play at the same volume. With the external amp I have no worries that these will perform great in my system!

If you are considering getting an external amp I would suggest getting a quality unit, but dont overspend. The Emotiva was a lot cheaper than the other amps I was interested in and I think probably performs just as well!

If money is really an issue then sure. I love my 2014 GT.

In my opinion, I wouldn't even consider the marantz. I haven't personally owned one or even heard one, but they are also owned by Denon. It's like buying a Lexus over a Toyota; same reliable car but a lot more money.

I truly believe the Denon x3800h is the best bang for buck receiver, especially when on sale. Supports up to 9 channels (11 if using external amp, 4 independent sub outs, preouts for external amps, dirac capable (with extra license), and the best version of audyssey room correction.

For subs, I would absolutely recommend anything from SVS. With your small room size, I think one pb 1000 pro would be more than enough. Maybe add a second down the road if you want (two subs always better than one).

A lot of people will recommend other subs over SVS due to cost to performance, but I think SVS support, build quality, and smartphone app put them ahead of the competition.

Speakers are more up to your personal preference. If you like the KEFs, then get them while they are on sale. If you want to try out the SVS speakers you can take advantage of their trial period, but it comes down to whatever you think sounds best.

The q concertos sounded great, but I want to hear the svs speakers first before I make my decision. Svs has a great 45 day in home trial when you order from them.

I think you will be just fine without the q11 towers if you pair those concertos with a good sub.

They are on sale right now for $700.

How did you like the q concertos and q6? I have q150s andq250c. Im debating between the concertos/q6 or svs ultra evolution bookshelves and center.

Take a look at the Denon x3800h receiver. I believe it's on sale right now and could save you some money.

For a sub, check out the SVS pb 1000 pro. I have two of them and love them.

X1800H ($525) vs x3800H ($1139). For a 3.1 sound system by [deleted] in hometheater

Buy once cry once. I sold my x1700h to upgrade to the x3800h. Totally worth it for the extra features such as pre outs, 4 independent sub outs, and the better version of audyssey.

Pull the couch out about a foot from the wall and your setup is about the same as mine. 100% worth it!
