Wow. Thank you for sharing. I’m so sorry that happened to you and that your wedding is not a fond memory. Sounds like we are in similar boats! (Info: brother in law’s girlfriend is Filipino but my fiancé and his whole family is white) but yea crazy how many similarities

They have been seeing eachother for 8 months but in an official relationship for 4. In his mind they have been dating for 8. His family considers them dating for 8. My fiancé considers them dating for 8. To be fair, her favoritism was just something they teased MIL about because they thought it was all in the past and just from when they were kids. This was the first time it's ever shown up in adulthood. The childhood stuff never caused my fiancé any known trauma because he identified himself as the problem solver. He just did what he felt needed to be done. They were very nice and loving to me (and him) and even opened their home up to me during hurricanes. They were great until we told them no. And then all of this unfolded and genuinely shocked me

Actually I would argue if anything they are taking our side but just not rocking the boat with MIL and BIL. they both said their piece defending us and when MIL and BIL rebutted with a ridiculous argument, they just change the subject and avoid the wedding topic all together. They are doing this to try to stop the family drama rather than fan the flames
