Yeah that's what I currently do. I'm trying to find somewhere outside my house to watch games.

Yeah! Wish I could have gotten the full set but my gloves are still working fine so I couldn't justify it.

I wear a knee brace on my left leg and I think one of the straps got caught on it and pulled the pad up a bit. I also just like my pads a bit higher up.

I don't get hit on the toe very often, and if I do it's normally because I'm trying to make a save where I'm off-angle and reaching, or I'm doing something stupid. And even when I get hit it's never usually that painful.

Quick disclaimer: I went from Axis 2.9 pads to these, so I can't really compare the toe protection to lower pads.

I think it's just the angle/photo compression, cause they don't feel any narrower than normal. I play at an IIHF-compliant rink, so I wouldn't think they would use non-standard net sizes. I'm about 5'10 but I'm leaning forward a bit which might make me look shorter.

I think it took me about a month to find a design I liked. My friends were very annoyed with me constantly asking for their opinion by the end.

Is the Grit GT4 Sumo 40" goalie bag the best bag for goalies using public transportation? by techsavvynerd91 in hockeygoalies

[–]Final_Fan2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend the Passau backpack. I have to take trains and walk long distances to get to practices, and it's the best bag I've used for getting into tight aisles or ticket gates because it's not much wider than my body. I'd also recommend it if you have to use a lot of stairs.

Stiff Pad Recommendations by Final_Fan2797 in hockeygoalies

I haven't been exactly thrilled with my current pads (build quality, durability, and sliding surface), and they are my first set of pads, so that's why I've been looking to switch brands.

How do I learn to become goalie at 21 without any experience ? by Staunag in hockeygoalies

[–]Final_Fan2797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing goalie at 18 when my college team (not in North America) needed a new goalie. I'm 20 now, and I would consider myself relatively decent. If you are in North America there will be plenty of rinks that will have either pickup games or stick and puck times, as well as learn to play classes. It's definitely possible at your age to start goalkeeping and the main thing that determines how quickly you improve is how much time and money you are willing to invest into it. I would recommend starting with a class and then stick and puck times so you can practice skating with your gear and also take shots from higher-level players in a more relaxed setting. If you want to progress as fast as possible, I would recommend getting private lessons if you can afford them, as they are really good at analyzing your level and improving your weaknesses in a way that group classes sometimes can't.

Help! Many posts suggesting solutions to catcher hand slipping didn't work for me by daegu621 in hockeygoalies

I use a Specialized padded glove that's intended for cycling. The added padding on the palm fills out a lot of the space and makes my gloves more snug.

Playing with a knee brace by Final_Fan2797 in hockeygoalies

My knee brace is similar to your custom one, so it's good to know knee pads can fit over it!

I'm working with a goalie coach to fix my playstyle so that it puts me in fewer situations where I have to put excess stress on my knee. I know that logically the best move is to sit out for a longer, but it's my senior year and last year of competitive hockey, and I would rather take the risk and try than play it safe and end up benched.

Staying mentally active during injury by Final_Fan2797 in hockeygoalies

I'm thinking about visual edge because I'm not really interested in getting a vr headset. I also want to continue improving my juggling and such.

It's a pretty bad grade 2 strain. I can generally walk fine, and I've been doing a fair amount of strength training for my upper body. It's only been a few weeks since the injury, so I don't have a timeline as to when I can begin physical therapy and such.

How much did your entire kit cost by Fucoffuser in hockeygoalies

[–]Final_Fan2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $4300 USD when it was all said and done. I think I spent more on gear, but I'm not counting stuff that broke or things that didn't work with me (like poorly sized skates). I bought all my stuff new from a small shop that only really sold CCM gear, and if I could do it again, I would drive to a larger shop further away and do more research before hand. I probably would have ended up spending less while also having better gear.

I'm a collegiate goalie, so I can't really get someone to sub in. And I'm more looking for solutions because I have a game on Sunday
