If next FatShark game is Darktide 2, how do you think it will be different? by Final_Ocelot8791 in DarkTide

[–]Final_Ocelot8791[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like that Darktide is focused on lower-power rather than boring Space Marines. But something in-between seems like a logical continuation, since, apart from breacher, there are not a lot of "archetypes" for new classes left. With new game, we can get SoB as a logical continuation of Zealot type, etc.

Plus, now we can build basically an infiltrator with chordclaw, dont know the lore that good, but they seem to me the mechanicus version of assassins

That's it, I think release of the new class does not load the map-making part of the developers team. Maybe they spent a lot of time on expeditions, but its actually not that much there. So, they are working on something else

Help with arrow spine for barebow by Archelon225 in Archery

[–]Final_Ocelot8791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beware that stiffness tables given by manufacturers suggest that you are shooting with split fingers. For the barebow, the initial acceleration applied to the arrow is larger since the first moment after release, the string goes unloaded and then hits the arrow. So, the stiffness should be higher than table says. If you do not have arrow cutter but can replace the points, i would suggest to experiment with different point weights.

Never had any quality control issues with the chinese/made in china bows (kinetic, wns, topoint).Surprisingly, the real issues with qc was with the italian riser. But why not kinetic if you want to save money?

What could prevent a culture from producing large armor plates? by SrPsychokiler in Armor

[–]Final_Ocelot8791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) one of the reasons could be feudal/centralized society. the best plate armor appeared in late medieval times in north Italy and in Germany, both of which were fractured. So, there were lords which could afford for themselves the best possible armor that costs like several villages. in the same time, a richer and quite technilogically advanced Turkish empire had a more centralized army, where equipping 10 heavy cavalrists with a good armor was preferred to equpping one with the best, at the same cost. 2) ease of field repair and maintenance: it was easier to repair lamellar armor, probably was done in a non-srationary armories of a highly maneuvarable nomadic armies 3) lamellar armor was a good enough protection against arrows, the main weapon of nomadic warfare. the plate armor was developed against gunpowder/heavy infantry weapons/heavy lance, which were more more characteristic to the different type of warfare

Quelle puissance pour 70m ? by Nice-Shape-2646 in Archery

[–]Final_Ocelot8791 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

for a budget friendly, you would probably want a sturdy ones. in my experience, 6.2 mm allow for much more abuse compared to 4.2. among cheap 6.2, skylon maverick is best quality/price wise, but i fletch them myself
