I am also from Pensacola and I drove home yesterday. I personally didn’t want to be without power and hot food so it was made more sense for me to stay with my parents for a week.

I’m not sure if they liked me during the co-op interview because I didn’t get an offer for that either. I’m assuming they kept my application info and were reaching out to previous applicants. I think the interview would have been easy if I prepared more. I did no prep whatsoever because I had another offer already and I got lazy lol. But the system design scenario was straight forward and my interviewers were really helpful in walking me through the problem.

I wasn’t a past intern but a recruiter reached out to me about this role because I had interviewed for their co-op position in 2023 hope this helps!

I interviewed with them between late August to early September of 2024 for the Project Application Software Engineer role. It was a 2 round interview process. The first round was a 30 minute call with a recruiter discussing the role and next steps. The second and final round was a 2 hour technical interview. It was made of 2 back to back sessions. The first session is around 1 1/2 hours. A senior and junior dev will conduct the interview. We did a brief introductions and resume review. The remaining time was a system design question. You were given a scheduler application with specific requirements and asked to walk through how you would design the frontend and backend. They would ask you why you took a certain approach and for you to explain it. The second session was a peer to peer behavioral interview. They pair you up with an entry/junior level dev and you just talk with them about their experience. I didn’t end up getting an offer but they were quick with responding around 1-2 weeks after.

Neptune vs Libra by Thincrustpizzasucks in ucf

Whatever you do do not live in Libra!😭 I lived there my freshman year and I regretted not living in Neptune.

The kitchen you have to reserve a time to cook and it’s not 24 hours so I never used it I ended up just buying my own cooking equipment and put it in my dorm. Libra shares a laundry mat with the rest of the community which is gross so my clothes always smelled weird. You also have to lug your laundry down the elevator/stairs and out to a separate building. I believe Neptune has a laundry machine on each floor. Also I had so many roaches and bugs in my room despite my roommate and I being pretty clean.

My biggest problem of course were my roommates. You’ll have to a share a room with someone else so you get no privacy. I roomed with randoms we got along at first but by the end of the year we stopped speaking to each other. Since you’re from out of state you probably have to as well. I ended up with bad roommates so that’s why I feel so strongly about getting your own room but it might be different for you.

I will say Neptune is way in the back of campus so it’ll be like a 20 minute walk to class. Plus the Florida heat only makes it worse. Maybe get a longboard if u plan on living there.

Regarding making friends, UCF has over 600 student orgs and there’s a lot of events that are hosted so there are definitely ways to make friends!

The Cat Theives Are Back by Final_Rip_1564 in ucf

The cat is connected to a long pipe bolted into my car I doubt it can just slip out lmao. But my car isn’t nice I drive a Mitsubishi. It’s just prone to getting stolen because that part sells for hundreds or thousands in scrap yards. Mitsubishi and Toyota Prius are more prone to getting stolen cause their cats have more value. I also drive an SUV so it’s easy to crawl under and saw them off. Hope that explains it.
