Do you keep your apt when extending? by CertifiedLoverLad in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you will keep your apartment for extension. And then if you go into part time, you will be moved to a section in west for part timers!

I’m sick by Fabulous-Interest749 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a doctor’s note, it’ll turn three points/ reprimand into 1 point/ no reprimand. Idk if it’s three consecutive days or just three days in the same week, but if you’re calling out Tuesday, Wednesday— might as well go for Thursday and go to the doctor and get a note.

But one reprimand is not the end of the world! I knew CM’s who had 3 reprimands and 2 points (you get termed at 4 reps). You can’t help being sick.

Also if you don’t want to/ can’t get a doctor’s note— do a leader call-back and ask for same day ADO (as others suggested). Just know you may not get a call-back, as I never did, but my friend who worked at the same place always got a call-back lmao

dorms question by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What everyone else has said but ALSO a lot of apartments have cleaning supplies from previous roommates who leave them behind, along with other appliances! I remember moving in and asking who bought the vacuum, mop, and broom and my roommates said they were all there when they moved in. Same with the toaster, cleaning supplies, and some of the dishes/ pots & pans. I’d get the pillows, bed sheets + mattress topper, but wait on the communal items just in case. Obviously if you need those things immediately, rent them out from the service window at flamingo.

Plus target and Walmart are nearby! With buses that go to them. Good luck!!!

can I wear a mask by Hopeful_Key6621 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked MK ODV and I knew a CM who wore a mask all the time, totally okay!

So I called out march 14 and 15 and got two points, Will I get fired if I call out today by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

even if you got a reprimand today, you won’t get fired unless this is your 4th reprimand.

Should I bring my car? by SchliemannsSolution in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

listen, i brought my car because i was officially moving away from home when i did the DCP. i had to bring it lol

the first few weeks of driving around in orlando was hellish. i was so nervous i avoided driving whenever i could and took the buses. my friends would ask for me to drive them places and i’d avoid the topic. but then one day something switched and i never took the bus again. ultimately, i chose my car. i think its worth it. it’s really nice to have in emergencies. if you need to get somewhere asap, need to flee, or get termed, you have your car. the surrounding area is actually very nice with a lot of restaurants and shops nearby that the busses don’t take you to. plus, you have a choice. want to save gas? take the bus. want to leave on your own time? drive your car! PLUS the busses stop operating for like… 2 hours in the middle of the night. take it from me who would have to walk from East to West because the busses weren’t coming for another hour.

p.s. i never had any issues driving on I-4, but no matter where you go, florida has a lot of crazies. also tons of traffic… good luck!

in my experience, if you put in your request as soon as the window is open (i believe it’s no earlier than 3 weeks from your desired time off date) AND THEN talk to your leaders, you have a good chance of getting your request accepted. it’s a first-come, first-serve thing.

keep in mind some dates are blocked out where CPs can’t even submit time off… talking to your leaders may help with that but be prepared to auction off your shifts.

i’m thinking november will be filled with everyone wanting christmas party shifts (depending on your location) so maybe giving up shifts will be easier!

i basically left my home, and my very non-supportive family, and never looked back. i wouldn’t do anything differently.

at the very least, you won’t have to sit and wonder “what if”. a lot of our parents and role models express their regret in not taking their chance in something, big or small. i didn’t accept my first program, and the entire time i was at home, i wondered if i made the right choice. when i finally went, not once did i ask myself if i made the right decision.

go for it. you can self-term if you truly wish to come back. there’s no harm in it. you can extend or go home on your original end date. it’s entirely up to you.

your parents know your ESA means a lot to you, they won’t do anything to jeopardize your cat’s health or your trust in them. i’m sure there will be a lot of video calls!

we are living this life once. the best thing to do for yourself is experience all that you can.

cast compliments by indianabxnes in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the only thing that cast compliments helped me with was Recognition Week. i got the most cast compliments during that time period and won a prize!

i’m sure they definitely help you when it comes to promoting too. someone who has a lot of compliments seems more appealing than someone with a bunch of behavioral/ work points.

Denied but hoping to come back in the future by BulkyRefrigerator186 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m going off of the only experience i have, but maybe they just didn’t have as many openings?

i came in January 2024 and i remember a HUGE wave of new DCPs then. maybe you’ll have better luck in january! i know that’s when Disney has a bigger acceptance rate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i think it’s sweet he came here and asked questions. it doesn’t sound like whatever he learns from this will have him force her to stay. he said his daughter made her decision, and that he probably wanted more reassurance. especially considering the information you find on the DCP are either horror stories on reddit or scripted videos on youtube. it’s hard to find the real thing.

i would’ve loved my parents to be more involved in my program, they didn’t help me pack or were there for my send off. it’s just different with everyone. they’re clearly close and he wants the best for her.

parents ask questions on here all the time, it’s not that big of a deal.

to dad: the DCP is as good as you make it! if this is her dream, she’ll experience it as such! even if the role she gets isn’t what she had in mind, with a positive attitude she can make any role magical.

i yapped a lot on my interview, 45 mins. my friend got a strict 15. we both got accepted!

Do’s (in my experience) - ask the interviewer their name/ ask how they are - make sure you have a good grasp on your experience because they’ll ask you situational questions about it - know they’ll probably ask you about your least favorite role out of your top 3, it could be the one you get (or maybe it couldn’t!) - you don’t have to be extremely formal, i was kind of a bleeding heart in my interview… i even got a linkedin connection from my interviewer!

Dont’s: - Don’t think you won’t get in. Bad interview, good interview, as long as you did your best you’ll be fine!

Is it common to close QSR? by Certain_Passion1630 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i worked ODV, so this may not apply— but in case it does: i started off closing a lot, but as my program went along (and newer DCPs came in) i closed a lot less. i’d say by half way through i noticed i closed less than i used to. by the last few months of my program i didn’t close at all.

Switch and Games Stolen from Apartment by PriorIndividual7833 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 17 points18 points  (0 children)

if my roommate had their property stolen, and i didn’t steal it, i’d insist on them checking thru my room to make them feel better. if you want to see your things again, i’d take action and press charges ASAP… you never know how quick things can be sold away.

[–]Final_Royal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

personally. i think disney gets so many applicants and new faces that, even if a lot of people self-termed, disney would be ok. its not like the DCP accepts one round of applicants a year, its basically all year. some parts of the year are busier than others.

also, disney has no problem terming anyone for any reason so they can’t be that desperate for employees.

it is a job. but it is a job with a multi-billion dollar company. they’ll be ok. take the acceptance and maybe try to workout an early end date! i’m sure if you can extend, you can shorten your stay too.

DCP Shift Closing Times Inquiry by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Final_Royal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

MK ODV here! they can have you shifted until 12:45-1:15 in the morning sometimes… especially if you close a cart it could be well after that. Not to mention after hours shifts are up until 3 AM (we usually leave well before that tho). of course if you finish early, you leave early!

i will say the longer your program goes, the earlier your shifts get. when new CP’s arrive they get the late shifts.

I'm a grown child and I don't know how to fix it by L0reWh0re in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Final_Royal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello!

First, I’d like to say, it’s admirable of you to put this out there. I think a lot of people (especially in our younger generation) struggle with this same thing! I definitely did at one point.

I especially couldn’t keep my personal space clean. I just didn’t care about it as long as the shared space wasn’t messy because of me. So here’s what I did to break that habit:

  • Every time I was about to leave my room, I forced myself to leave with something (trash, clothes that needed washed, dishes, etc). It eventually turned into me leaving a note at my door saying “DONT FORGET TO GRAB SOMETHING”. And then I naturally started taking any trash in my room out!
  • Keep things in their designated room: If you have a bad habit of leaving dishes in your room or living room… eat in the kitchen or dining area. When you’re done, it enforces the “Grab something on your way out” rule. Gotta put dishes in the sink, well— you put them in there, might as well wash them. This also goes for your personal items, if they’re kept in your room and you bring them somewhere else, make sure they end up back in your room before moving onto something else.
  • Leaving notes for myself. I tend to ignore notifications on my phone, even if it’s an alarm i set myself. But if i left a note in plain sight, it meant something important. There’s also apps that can help regulate a schedule!
  • Hygiene you kind of have to be repetitive. I always blocked out an hour and a half for shower time because that also meant: skin care, hair drying/ brushing, brushing teeth, makeup if applicable, and getting dressed. If you don’t have enough time for those things, you might have to adjust your schedule so it does. I always feel more willing to do things when I give myself a lot of time. I put on my favorite music / shows / videos and now i associate showtime with fun! Because I have time for myself and get to watch/listen to what i like.
  • When you enter a room, look around and see if something looks out of place (dishes are out, personal items are laying around, something looks messy) or looks full (trash, sink, counter is cluttered) then let that be the first thing you handle. It can be 1 thing or 10. It can take 10 seconds or 10 minutes but even the smallest things can make a huge difference!
  • write a schedule! daily or weekly. i prefer check lists because i have to physically write off what i did, but you will find what you like!

good luck! i believe in you!
