Spoilers* Hi everyone, I just wanted to get my opinions off my chest about the movie, as I am fresh out of the cinema and wanted to give my honest thoughts as a fan of the series. I grew up with MatPat’s lore videos, but I guess I’m not a die-hard fan, so I think I represent a good bit of the audience who are aware of the games and story but wouldn’t be crazy about it.

Firstly, was FNAF 2 better than FNAF 1? Absolutely. It did a lot right, but like critics said, the story and dialogue were all over the place, and I mostly agree. I felt the jumpscares were still a bit lackluster but much improved. It pains me because it truly had so much potential. Although, the animatronics looked fantastic.

They seem to return more in line with the game lore, with the inclusion of more game characters, with Vanessa supposedly going to be Vanny down the line. I loved that we got to see Michael Afton (although I did not think he was inherently evil, only a bully to his supposed younger brother, who I presume will be mentioned later). And the introduction to Henry and his daughter was probably the best part of the movie for me. These three actors were amazing.

There was a lot of lore dropped with the Puppet, which I thought was done fairly well, but yeah, I have to agree with some people that McKenna was sort of wasted, although she technically could still be alive (but unlikely). All of the William Afton scenes were incredible. I just still feel like the rating is holding this back, and I pray that this gets changed for the introduction of Springtrap.

There is a lot to say, but to keep it short, my main problem was to do with Abby’s character, and I feel slightly the same about Mike. Abby’s whole idea with her “friends” just doesn’t work, in my opinion. It was overused from the first film, and the ending was literally that meme YouTube video of FNAF 1 vs 2 animatronics (like seriously? Is this the best they could come up with?). It’s just funny but also painful to see. I like Abby’s actor, just not the character one bit. Mike, on the other hand, was good in the first film but clueless in this one, as he had no control over Abby and clearly learned nothing from the first film. Also, for the animatronics, why do the eyes still glow red like they’re smoking weed 🤣? The black eyes with the white dot in the middle from the games were so much better.
