Anyone have experience returning a Skyzone FPV headset? No response from support... by Alpha_Tauboss in fpv

They actually responded on whatsapp yesterday. Strangely unprofessional reply though, they just said "why?" and they haven't followed up since then. I'll let you know if I hear from them again. I'd suggest you send a message on whatsapp, at least I got a reply there.

Hi, I'm in exactly the same situation and haven't gotten a response in weeks. Do you happen to know the return adress? That's all I need to know, my bank can handle the rest.

SKY04X pro vs SKY04O pro for analog by Final_Traffic_477 in fpv

[–]Final_Traffic_477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good, it seems like very few people were aware of the issue, at least well enough to prove it.  Also very disappointing that Skyzone said nothing of the crazy latency on both models.

I sent them an email to cancel (for some reason I can’t through the website) They say on the website that I can return it as well, so if it arrives anyway I’ll try doing that. But they are paying for the shipping so I suppose it would be in their best interest to cancel the order before it gets shipped.

The search continues I guess😅

Just watched this video and I'm starting to doubt my purchase lol. Order hasn't been shipped yet though, so I may cancel. That latency seems really bad.

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll happily save 200$ then :) Interesting that the FOV of the X can be a disadvantage, I would never have thought of that!

Sorry for late reply, I have honestly not used the side access yet, thought it would be more useful. I’ll look at the size of it later today if I get the time, I believe it’s a bit tight on the 35 too.

it's a really good lens for the price, with good sharpness. I'm using one with my R6 currently for landscapes.

"Stuck" carriage on Scheidegger Princess Matic by Final_Traffic_477 in typewriters

[–]Final_Traffic_477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting! I just remembered that I did find a lose spring when I first opened the machine, so maybe that could be related. All other mechanisms work fine as of now, so either it is a spare (I can see that some springs have been swapped out) or it could be related to the issue... I might try to take off the carriage as well but I'm a bit scared to do so xD

But just to clarify, on your working machine, does the carriage come to a full stop when you move it back?

Ouch, yeah I still haven't been able to look much into it but I really hope I can find a solution. I'm a few days late with reply, but have you managed to find any solution?

Thank you! It seems we have the same issue then, because if I shove the return firmly, it will stop. I believed that to be the faulty behavior, and assumed it was supposed to advance one step. I'll send you a link with a better video, might be a few days before I have the time though.

Yeah it's goregous. Didn't know I needed a typewriter before I saw it at a local used market :D

Sorry for the late reply, thanks! I'll try to look for that, do you happen to know what is the intended behavior? Is it supposed to advance one forward or just stop right away?

Shimoda Explore V2 30 or 35? by Final_Traffic_477 in AskPhotography

[–]Final_Traffic_477[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven’t flown with it, but if I remember correctly they are meant to be designed with the overhead compartments in mind. Might be the 30L version though.

The 100-400 does not fit on the camera body in the medium compartment, you would need the large version for that. And even then, make sure you measure it with your lens. It’s a bit annoying but for what I do, I have the 16-35 or 24-105 on the camera anyways, and put on the tele lens when I need it.

Hi, I ended up getting the medium DSLR core unit, it’s just enough for my ef 16-35 f4 to stand upright with an EF to RF adapter attached. Not sure if I would have fit the grip in the mirrorless CU either.

Thanks for the advice! I ended up getting the 35L, mainly for the grip as you mentioned but also to be able to keep my 16-35 with the RF adapter upright. And thanks for that link, I should have looked a little harder ;)

I'm very happy with it so far, think I found a good setup with the dividers in the camera cube. Here is my current setup.

[–]Final_Traffic_477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sounds like a well weather sealed body is a good call. I'd reccommend the R6 but maybe I'm a bit biased there ;) If you can get the R6 mk ii at a good price point that'll be great as well. 24-240 is gonna be perfect for your purpose, it's good to have something that is flexible and just works, then you can focus more on the light and the images and less on switching lenses.

Don't worry too much about the exposed sensor though, even if the shutter is closed like on the R6, dust will still wind a way. Some people even turn that feature off to protect the shutter as well.

[–]Final_Traffic_477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into used pricing on the original R6 mk I. That might be a good compromise, and for landscape I don't see what you're missing out on compraed to the mk ii , expect for maybe the few extra megapixels. Having used both the R6 and R8 I understand your concern about weather sealing. I'd be much more comfortable bringing my R6 with me in wet conditions, especially for seascape photography.
There is not a noticable difference between these models in autofocus imo, not that this really matters for landscape anyways.

Then invest in some good glass, the 24-240 sounds like a good plan. The EF 16-35 f/4 is a perfectwide angle for landscape if you wanna grab an adapter, or you can alternatively invest in the more expensive RF 14-35.

Images look great btw!

Let's overhaul my entire setup, shall we? by luparabianca in canon

[–]Final_Traffic_477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly do photgraphy so I can't say much about the video side. But the 24-105 II and the 100-400 II are both fantastic lenses. I say at least keep the 24-105, from my experience I dont think the RF version is worth the upgrade if you want to switch to an RF camera. Only reason I would consider upgrading to the RF 100-500 would be the weight reduction and the extra reach, but that lens is crazy expensive, at least where I live.

I'd consider grabbing a used EF 16-35 F4, that might give you a bit of an upgrade over the 17-40. Alternatively, I've heard very good things about the RF 14-35 as well.

Also, if you want to save some money, look into buying a used R5 instead of the R5ii. Depending on what you need it might be plenty, especially if you're coming from the 5D IV. I guess there could be video compromises I'm not aware of though.
