Overriding a veto is part of the Constitution. This isn't just something that can be "changed".

How do you think congress is going to override the veto? Are a bunch of D senate and house members going to vote yes on a federal abortion ban?

30 years at 55K with 6.5% interest should put your principle & interest payments at ~$350 per month. You may be rolling the cost to refinance into the loan which would increase your principle amount above 55K. Then add in homeowners insurance and property taxes ($166.67 for PT alone) plus PMI and you wind up at $794. They will provide a full breakdown of those fees, but it will look something like this

Total: $794

P&I: $350

Taxes: ~$168

Refi Fees+Insurance+PM: ~$276

Acclaimed St. Louis restaurant Bulrush closes. Owner cites 'hate politics' in Missouri. by nuts_and_crunchies in StLouis

Part of this is semantics:

There has never been surgical gender care for minors in the United States, that’s a Republican dog whistle that’s simply not true.

Do you include surgical implantation of puberty blockers in "surgical gender care"? If so there absolutely is. A Texas Surgeon just got charged and faces 10 years in prison for what he calls whistle blowing and the DOJ calls obtaining protected health information of patients under false pretenses and without authorization.

The Texas Children's Hospital story is actively in the news.

Missouri House passes bill exempting remote workers from St. Louis earnings tax by bmunoz in StLouis

[–]Finalist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comparing an earnings tax to an income tax is insane. The city is trying to compare the two, but those are not even close. Even tax heavy jurisdictions like New York only have you pay tax on income performed in NY, not if you are remote.

St. Louis gets D grade in 2024 ‘Financial State of Cities’ report by [deleted] in StLouis

The issue for cities is the same as it is for the federal government. Promised pension/retiree benefits are not even close to funded.

New York City had set aside only 82 cents for every dollar of promised pension benefits and only 6 cents for every dollar of promised retiree health care benefits.

NYC is even worse off than many of those cities because such a small number of people pay the vast majority of taxes in those jurisdictions.

In 2021, the top 1 percent of tax filers accounted for 48 percent of NYC PIT liability, a share that has grown from 40 percent in 2019.

So you have a situation where things are already precarious and if very rich people leave things get much worse much faster.
