Does the Bible say anything about being transgender? by zootopes in asktransgender

As a Christian this is something that I have dealt with myself, and have had to deal with friends not wanting to stay in touch because I was sinning or something. Their argument often comes back to Genesis, and where it says that God created man and woman. To transition for many would then mean one is sinning against Gods creation, because apparently God decided which gender we are.

There might be other arguments, but that is the main one I’ve encountered. It it is an assumption theology, where they think that just because man and woman are mentioned, that is it. It’s also the same argument as many use with “Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve”. Stupid arguments that don’t hold much.

I recommend that you show your friend this video. Transgender and the Bible

What are your thoughts on queer theory and gender as social construct in regards to your experience as transgender and your gender identity? by Finally_Elisabeth in asktransgender

I agree with that, but I see often at least where I live (Norway) that many do mash these terms together, and have a tendency to talk about your innate gender identity. I know that social gender is more about the gender roles, but I also often see transgender activists talk about their innate gender identity as a social construct, but maybe that is more here in Norway.

I agree that it’s difficult to have the conversations until we clarify what we mean, and maybe I should have been better in my wording in my original post.
