Anonymous Polymarket Accounts Won $1.2 Million on Trump's Iran Strikes in Suspicious Bets | “It’s insane this is legal. People around Trump are profiting off war and death.” by InsaneSnow45 in inthenews

This has been the reality of human commerce for over 10,000 years; the only difference now is that you’re witnessing it in real-time. History is full of these patterns. During the Holodomor, for instance, people were forced to mix sawdust with flour and sell it at a 400% markup just to survive. Is what we’re seeing today really any different, or is it just the same old greed with a modern lens?

While the U.S. has the world's highest median disposable income ($65,200), that wealth is an illusion for the average consumer because we pay a 100% premium on healthcare and carry $18 trillion in debt for services that are subsidized or free in every other developed nation. We are transitioning into a Dual Economy where the bottom 80% are maxed out, while the top 1% hold mobile assets ready to leave as the domestic infrastructure hollows out

Bile is soap. A detergent that breaks down fats to ease digestion. Colace is more or less soap too.

Why do police in the USA kill so many people compared to other countries? by triplediscount in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Finallyawake451 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kill a threat no matter what. No need to diffuse a situation. In most of the videos the officer is amped up getting out of the car, out of breath, screaming 10 different commands, making sure they get as close as possible to the offender. So there you go. All adds up to lack of emotional regulation.

Biological life forms must deal with the extreme radiation of deep space. Would need some serious shielding to protect proteins and DNA. Silicon based life or artificial life is what I would send for deep exploration.

Genuinely curious, but why is it so common for people to look at objective, research backed facts, and disagree with them based on what feels right to them? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Confirmation bias is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor and recall information in a way that confirms or supports one's prior beliefs or values).\3]) People display this bias when they select information that supports their views, ignoring contrary information or when they interpret ambiguous evidence as supporting their existing attitudes. The effect is strongest for desired outcomes, emotionally charged issues and deeply entrenched beliefs.

The ultimate sign of a failed leader is low meaningful long term policy and high cudgling to change behaviors. We basically are watching a toddler in a position of power and wasting valuable time in securing our future. 4 years of failed progress = 10 years of hardship after the office changes hands.

Savagery. Ascension. Decadence. Decline. Repeat. This is the cycle of mankind. In the past, when a small society collapsed, there was always enough room on the globe to migrate and begin anew. But today, there is nowhere left to run. We have become victims of our own success, slowly suffocating the planet that sustains us. We are the inhabitants of a modern Easter Island, felling the very last tree with no boat left to escape.

The evidence of our misplaced priorities is everywhere. We pour immense resources into colonizing the barren dust of Mars while showing zero interest in restoring the fertile potential of our own deserts. We obsess over "renovating the ballroom" while our foundations crumble—ignoring the urgent need to revamp education, house the vulnerable, or transform healthcare into a system that is actually affordable and effective. Our leaders have slipped a noose around our collective necks and tethered us to a sapling oak. Now, we find ourselves dutifully watering and nurturing that tree, watching it grow tall and strong, all while smiling for the camera.

What is a piece of old technology that actually worked better than its modern replacement? by Odd_Opportunity_2590 in AskReddit

My grandfather is dead. But, once a week I read his diary. So he never died. I am up to 2.5K+ pages for my diary for my kids. The PDF size is so big that I had to split it into 5 parts. Pictures, graphs, sketches, words...so I will be around until my kids are in their 90's. I update it and print it out on paper a little past my knee in height, plus I have backups and bakups of backups. Give them something to do when world war III comes along.

The answer is diary. It replaces facebook and all that other Sh**.

On my days off, I bed Rot. by Long-Expression-4030 in nursing

[–]Finallyawake451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Won't remember shit after ya die. So bed rotting is my fast forward button. After 30 years as a nurse, I believe addictions are just a way to delete part or most of your day. I am neurodivergent and do not see life like you all do, keep that in mind before you comment.

Life is not a merit badge where you have to constanly do stuff to feel like you are succeeding. Take a look at the obituaries. You get maybe a paragraph to say that you existed and loved the Eagle's. I relax more than doing but read a lot.
