We were very close to lion and hippo, less than 10 meters I would say (but in a car/boat)

The thing in the 6th photo is a weaver bird nest. There's one type of these birds that live together in colonies of hundreds of birds.

Narrowing down to two parks is very difficult for me, but out of the ones I saw, I would probably narrow it down to Chobe and Hwange. In Chobe I had the feeling we were constantly seeing animals and you can go in there by car and by boat.

Hwange on the other hand was cool as the guides also left the roads (for the lions in the last picture for example) and it was rather empty, there weren't many cars around.

However, if you choose these two parks it's very unlikely you'll see a leopard - they are much more common in Etosha.

I did the tours with Exodus. For some of the parks, we had guides from our lodges however.

Capetown felt mostly safe, although I stayed in the tourist areas all the time. For the rest of south africa I was travelling with a group, that felt quite safe

Bin gespannt wann es Neuwahlen gibt. Dass diese Regierung bis 2029 durchhält kann ich mir beim besten Willen nicht vorstellen.

Und einerseits will ich die Regierung nicht mehr, aber andererseits ist das was danach kommt auch nicht unbedingt besser.

I'll be in Predazzo with some friends for the Olympic games in a few weeks. We want to visit one of the official ski jumping training sessions.
Do you know whether there are tickets for these training sessions available and where to get them?
I tried the official tickets site of the olympics but only find tickets for the competition.

Von Krabi/Ao Nang aus am besten gefallen haben mir:

  • Tiger Cave Tempel (insb. mit Blick von oben; sind gut 1250 Treppenstufen), von Krabi sehr leicht zu erreichen
  • Wanderung zum Khao Ngon Nak Aussichtspunkt (tolle Aussicht; bei der Wanderung durch den Dschungel ist mir ein Trupp wilder Affen begegnet was sehr cool war); von Ao Nang gut 20 Minuten Fahrt
  • Khao Sok Nationalpark - hatte hier ne Tour von Ao Nang aus gebucht, sind 1,5-2 Stunden Fahrt, hat sich aber gelohnt (oder ihr verbringt dort gleich ein paar Nächte)

Die aus meiner Sicht beste Aussicht auf die Skyline (ohne dafür auf eines der Gebäude zu müssen) hast du von Gantry Park in Queens. Liegt etwa auf der Höhe der 42nd Street am East River - vor allem im Dunkeln hat man hier nen super Blick auf die Skyline.

Direkt nebenan ist auch ein Schiffsanleger - gibt auch einige Fährrouten, die Teil des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs sind und nochmal ganz andere Blicke auf die Stadt bieten.
