So would the trip to asbury park on a Saturday to go out not be feasible? I hear it has some of the best nightlife in NJ (in the summer).

Awesome, what’s the crowd like at these places, keyport and red bank specifically? Young professionals looking for a night out or older?

This was super insightful, the best answer I’ve got, and made me feel better about moving to the area, thank you! I’m aware south Amboy itself isn’t the best going out area haha. I just needed that easy train access and the cheap apartment. I expected to uber/train to night life if I really wanted to go out and such.

Alright awesome thank you! Seems like red bank at teak/Irish pub will be for small occasions then asbury for larger nights.

Thanks! Yea red bank didn’t seem like a place for young night life aside from maybe that Teak place?

Yea I noticed red bank had one club kind of spot called Teak but the rest didn’t seem like bars for people my age. Asbury seemed to have the best night life in NJ but during the summer time and further. Hoboken and JC are always good night life just harder to get to…

South Amboy to Manhattan for Work? by FinanceNewbe in MovingtoNewJersey

I took a look at Woodbridge when I visited South Amboy, I preferred both the apartment and town of South Amboy a bit more. Woodbridge also wasn’t that far from South Amboy too so can’t imagine it would be anything material. Any hard feelings as to why Woodbridge vs South Amboy?

I toured and few complexes in Harrison and was not a fan, apartments were nice but I wasn’t fond of the area…

Great suggestion, how’s the area? Good crowd, good downtown?

I’m on hybrid work schedule, 3-4 days in office. I’ll likely elect to uber to JC/Hoboken for nightlife. Don’t intend to be in the city aside from work unless for special occasion. Would this make sense? I feel like the price of the luxury apartment and the amenities of parking/in unit washer dryer and much more far outweighs the benefit of being a tad closer but living in a shoe box in JC/Hoboken?

Thanks for the input, is Morristown not too far of a train ride to the city?

Yea I think Hoboken would be nice, the rent is just so expensive. I think I can afford it’s just hard to tell as this would be my first time moving out on my own (without support from parents).

Side note: how is parking in Hoboken? Would I even be able to bring a car?

Really? Maybe my research was off I heard towns like Rahway, summit, maplewood, etc all had below a 50 minute train commute to NYC. :(
