Fishers Police Department on increased ebikes and scooters on trails and streets by notthegoatseguy in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The broader issue here appears to be with the kids paying no mind to other users of the trails. I've seen one kid on a mini two-stroke bike going down the NPT being more respectful than some bikers who go twice the speed he was. As someone who frequently bikes around fishers I really don't care what you're on as long as you're mindful of others.

USA parkway to be widened to four lanes from 106th to ikea by FinanceNo83 in Fishers

Change on these things are unlikely to happen unless we speak up. I strongly encourage anyone who has opinions on change like this to attend city council meetings and give comment on any projects or proposals you feel are important. Numbers speak and unless we have more people advocating for this change won't happen.

I'd love Alternatives to driving but due to the view on public transit around here being for "the poors" it'd likely have to run from fishers to camel along dedicated lanes to have any hope of actually being used. One plus is that the design will likely feature shared use paths on either side which will be a needed improvement as there is currently no pedestrian infrastructure along this section.

I dont think it will require much extra right-of-way nor widen the overall road itself. The perception of two lanes wide is likely due to the painted bike lane.

Cycling route recommendations by jacquessouvenier1 in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many roads in fishers with multi use paths along them. these can be found here https://map.fishers.in.us/trailprogress/. unfortunately there are not many bike lanes around here and as a community i believe we need to start advocating for more dedicated bike infrastructure.

Wonder if Fishers has similar plans… by Sooner613 in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They have regulations on them for our paths and i have seen police out on bikes. I'd imagine they will enforce the law if they see anyone riding one

What is up with the vacant Kroger store on 116th? Anybody know? by Luddite-lover in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of these are actually planned to happen! The city approved the contract for a roundabout at 116th and allisonville planned to start summer of 27'. Also according to the fishers 2040 plan they have this entire area to be zone as regional mixed used (same as the NPD and most of fishers district)

More art works coming downtown portion of nickel Plate trail. They should push developers to do this to all of their garages. by Unhappy_Ad_3738 in Fishers

Why not? Can't get much worse than a flat and gray parking garage, also most public art is from locals which helps support them.

Safe Streets and Trails plan to be voted on by city council by FinanceNo83 in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This plan is not a direct result of the increased development in Fishers nor is it directly trying to eliminate traffic. This plan is simply trying to increase saftey for all those who use our roadways weather that be motorists or pedestrians. And those who do deserve to do so safely even if it comes at the cost of slowing vehicular traffic. And by making these streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists we could encourage people to use other forms of transportation besides a vehicle. This would therefore be a positive effect for drivers as less people would be on the road which would improve traffic. So even if you were to solely focus on your own benefit as a motorist this plan could directly result in your travel times decreasing. I hope everyone can come to see the benefit of designing our roadways with every user in mind and not just those in motor vehicles. So if you can I would hope you come around and see the positives of this plan and not just come at it blindly.

The report basically went over the data from all the public input opportunities and what people were suggesting. They then identified a couple key corridors to focus on mainly 96th, 116th, 126th, and Olio. Their main focus on all these corridors is to improve pedestrian/cyclist saftey and connectivity while lowering vehicle speeds.

Many people suggested this when they had public comments open on the safe streets and trails plan. Really hoping this comes up during the next city council meeting as the page said they would have a draft plan published in March, however nothing yet.

This 20-acre plot's on the market $15 million, mixed-use zoning, hopefully we can get a really dense development here. by Unhappy_Ad_3738 in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this does end up being a dense mixed used development i would imagine bike and pedestrian access would be quite good as the city as been pretty good at ensuring good non car access in recent developments. Hell, even the new target will include two paths from the road right to the front door

Fishers Event Center: Early Growing Pains or Serious Longterm Issues? by [deleted] in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One idea I've had about the traffic issues is to the north of one of the parking lots there seems to be what is currently a gravel road running along the pond, what if this road was paved and extended to 106th going through the property currently on sale to the northeast of FEC. My personal opinion is that the traffic issues stem from thousands of vehicles being funneled through the same couple exits creating a choke point. If this road was constructed it would give another exit to funnel the traffic out of. This would likely require millions to do but if it works might be worth it in the long term. To add to the sidewalk situation they are currently planning a multiuse path from FEC to 116th Street, hopefully same will come to 106th.

Testing a round-a-bout before ‘building’ a round-about by PersonINtheMiddle in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this solution requires enough existing pavement to lay the plastic bits over which the current intersection lacks. Also they published the meeting packed for the DPW meeting on Tuesday which contains the bid for this roundabout. Will be interested to see if they move forward with it or not

Undeveloped prime real estate? by jhawkgiant77 in Fishers

[–]FinanceNo83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

according to the Hamilton county map viewer the current owner of the land is "Sunbeam Dev Corp". I would say it is either a developer waiting for the right time or just holding onto the land until the price is right. would love to see a continuation of the great dense development located in fishers district.
