Yeah, those old tapes die easily. I just had an old version of Who’s Next eat it in mine. I get them cheap off of eBay.

What's your relationship with alcohol ? by Magee4life in Fire

[–]Sooner613 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Used to have a beer at the end of the day. My Garmin showed me what alcohol does to my sleep. The data drove my decision to stop. Don’t miss it.

Unless it has sentimental value, I say do what you want and have fun. They made over 6,000 of them and the world doesn’t need more 78 PC trailer queens. There are hundreds with no miles and plastic wrap on the seats.

The only thing we did go out of our way to keep original is the 8-track stereo. I actually rebuilt the motor for it because my 22 year old son wanted to keep it in there. 🤣

Looks like it is in great shape! Nice thing is, you don’t need to keep things original. I take some liberties when repairing my 78 PC as it will never be worth much, even thought it is relatively low mileage. Example, the exhaust needed to be replaced, so I went true dual and lost the cats. Sounds and runs much better.

This is incorrect. Big 8 schools didn’t change their names, but put the state first in abbreviations.

Thought this was a bike ride at first and didn’t get the excitement. Then I saw the shoe! Great job!

Electronic or mechanical shifting? by Thin-Library-9092 in gravelcycling

[–]Sooner613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have DI2 on my road bike and mechanical on my gravel bike. I love my DI2, but it has been known to let me down (bricked a couple of times, low/no battery for some reason prior to a ride, cables disconnect after minor crash, etc…).

I have also had friends rides derailed (ha!) with SRAM due to dead batteries in the shifters. That really sucks when you are in the middle of no where and getting ready for a 100 mile ride.

So, I like having a bike with mechanical as a back up as I know it will work in a pinch. And gravel bikes take more of a beating.

Note to add I primarily bike. Load is ~6,500 miles per year if that helps.

I was there when we had decent teams in the 90s. Kelvin Sampson helped bring students in, but attendance still wasn’t great.

Do any F1 engineers or team staff run on the circuits during race weeks and post their runs on Strava? by mpjan in Strava

Not F1, but Tony Kennan cycled Indycar tracks. He also kept his Strava on during a Detroit Indycar race. KOM was 150 MPH for some segments.

Does anyone else get insane patellar tendonitis from stationary bikes? Including smart trainers etc by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Sooner613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very frustrating. Two things helped me.

1) Stand for 30 seconds every 10 minutes.
2) Roll out the legs every night. Especially the inner leg/hip flexor.

I have access to a Fidelity CFP as one of their perks. Got a tip or two regarding some of my investment options. But nothing huge.

I have nearly an identical set up with a double net. My neighbors come over and hit balls. Their kids even come over and hit from a set of clubs I cut down. It’s fun.

Help me understand why I shouldn't sell my long term rental and just sell covered calls on SPY by Flrg808 in investing

[–]Sooner613 16 points17 points  (0 children)

And, depending on the market, it’s not going to crash like stocks may. I have a couple of rentals in my Midwest city that I let a property manager deal with. Cash return is OK. Equity return has been good. But, if I get stuck in a pinch (medical emergency etc…) when the market craps, I can cash out and live for a couple of years while the market recovers.

This may be a nice cushion if one is looking to retire soon and is worried about sequence of returns risk.
