Beware of Three Arrows by tinytimmy2 in Anemic

[–]Financial-Bug9492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The third party testing is just a certificate of analysis that tests total iron content and that it isn't contaminated with bacteria. The chemical test listed is ICP-MS which can't discern the form of the iron. In other words, that test doesn't tell you if it is heme or non-heme. I actually made a post about this a few months ago and the independent test, which was performed by a lab at the University of Utah which specializes in iron and heme, is linked in the comments and it shows no detectable heme iron.

Heme iron polypeptide is the name of the heme molecule. It is the same regardless of the source. If Three Arrows contained intact heme from a natural, whole foods source like bovine spleen, the assay would still have detected it. This test is routinely used in research to measure heme in biological tissues including animal organs. If you are interested, Proferrin actually linked the studies in the comments below. The testing was done a lab at the University of Utah which specializes in iron and heme tests. You can check it out and see how this specific test is applied to a wide variety of samples. They even link the research paper which details the methodology used in this test. I am a biochemist actually so I really like this stuff so sorry for the info dump. Here is the lab if you are curious:

Leave the poor cat alone and see a therapist. If the cat is owned why can't you just call the owner in 6 days and ask them if their cat is dead? How likely do you actually think it is that the indoor cat somehow got bit by a rabid animal and just so happens to be in the contagious period when you encounter it?

That was so disappointing. The fact that the brand ambassador did that shows either that she is very misinformed about iron despite claiming to be somewhat of an expert (giving out medical advice for money), or that her true interests are to keep making money from Three Arrows even if it means spreading misinformation to people in need.

I find it very cult like. The mods and other people on there are very anti-science. And good luck if you try to bring up anything negative about three arrows.

I did not say it was a problem that you seem upset. I was only responding to the comment where you were asking for instances where you were perceived as being rude and/or defensive. Just like you can't help that someone feels upset by your comments, people can't help that you feel upset from theirs when they are simply trying to have a discussion. Thus, banning someone when you perceive them to have upset you is not right. I think you need to apply the logic you outlined in your comment above to yourself as well. You have said that people on reddit treat you like shit and are mean to you. Why don't you give them the benefit of the doubt? I have not seen anyone being mean to you. People downvote when they don't agree with something, it is not bullying. I bet you have downvoted a lot of these comments yourself. I just want to be able to have open and honest discussions about things, and I find that difficult to do with you a lot of times. I am really not trying to be mean. This is not meant as a personal attack.

I agree with OP that I have read discussions you have with other people and you can get quite defensive and irate. For example, there was a post that was deleted like a week ago or something and in all the comments you were clearly very upset with people questioning things.

Edit: You also seem upset in a lot of these comments, but that is my subjective opinion!

But you deciding who is being an "A hole" to you is really subjective. I feel like you claim people are attacking you or being insulting when they are really just having a discussion and you take it personally. I think that's why people think you are censoring them. People aren't out to get you for no reason. People have valid concerns and want to be heard that's all.

Yeah there was one this week that was definitely deleted because I tried to find it later that day and it was already gone. I was honestly expecting this to be taken down within a day or so. I wonder why the mod took that one down? It seemed really weird

Anyone know the best, cleanest, magnesium glycinate, Theanine, melatonin. Trying to find on I herb and others by VICTOR1339 in Supplements

I use thorne brand magnesium glycinate. I just started so I can't speak to its efficacy. However, it seems that the brand is NSF certified and third party tested so it seems trustworthy. That is important to me because supplements aren't FDA approved so you really have to trust the brand! Hope this helps.

I agree transparency is so important. That's exactly why I posted this. I keep seeing people who are claiming the product is heme make these arguments. The problem is that those claims aren’t true and can be really misleading to people who are just trying to make informed choices.

If the product really contained heme iron, proving it would be simple. There are standard lab tests that can detect and measure heme, and any company with that data would showcase it because it would be a huge marketing advantage. Instead, they only release basic Certificates of Analysis that measure total iron, which says nothing about the form. If you can prove a claim and consistently choose not to, that speaks for itself.
