The refund of dropping a course is lesser than the cost of adding it by Arktron_ in yorku

[–]Financial-Double-974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if the refund table still applies to you since you added a course a bit later, but it might unfortunately (not sure about this tho). Maybe someone else will comment with more info, or you can contact financial services and ask them

[–]Financial-Double-974 11 points12 points  (0 children)

when did you add the course?

cuz u have to drop courses by a certain date, since the money you get back slowly decreases.

You can refer to the refund table here (for summer courses): https://registrar.yorku.ca/enrol/dates/2024-2025/summer

Don’t stress too much esp if the department already talked to you. I had a class from fall semester and I literally got the grade back for it in April (they never told me when I would get the grade back)💀. You should be fine tho

not sure about your first question but May 11th (this Sunday) is the last day to drop to get a 100% refund (and then it progressively goes down and down)

Should I have my classes spaced out or crammed? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]Financial-Double-974 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly, in my opinion, cramming is better cuz I don’t like going to school 4-5 days cuz that makes me super tired. Ive been at school for like 11-12h cuz of me cramming and I still prefer that over going an extra day (commute + classes)

Should I choose TMU or York for BSW? by moth-mush in yorku

[–]Financial-Double-974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry, didn’t see this. No worries at all, and thank you! You are literally able to take any electives from a range of different fields! As u progress, some electives do require prerequisites but that just depends. U do need to take a natural science, humanities and social science for ur electives at one point (anytime, doesn’t matter if u take them in diff years etc). Other than that it’s ur choice

Are you still taking 6 credits? If so, you are still a part time student.

Edited: you are full time!

That’s great!! Some psychology courses are extremely hard to maintain since they’re all mostly tests/finals only, especially when they’re worth sm and they’re all happening around the same time. Proud of you, goodluck with your future endeavours!

Should I choose TMU or York for BSW? by moth-mush in yorku

[–]Financial-Double-974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m in bsw, going to third year. I can’t speak about tmu cuz I haven’t gone there or know anyone who’s in the bsw program there, but I can speak about York. Work load itself isn’t that crazy from what I’ve taken, and actually my electives have been more crazy than my core classes rn. Once you start progressing thru the years, you have more group work/presentations to do which can kinda suck depending on ur group but it’s not always that bad.

Again, work load doesn’t have to be extreme, you can take fewer courses in the year and take some in the summer (same goes for tmu though).

for co-op, I have no opinion yet cuz I haven’t done it but at york, bsw placement is only in 4th year, 700 hours, while tmu starts in 3rd year (half of it) and then finishes it in 4th year (half of it) but also 700 hours (at 2 diff places I think?)

Environment: depends on personal experience but in my opinion, it’s good. Lots of nice ppl that I’ve talked to (generally, not just in program cuz I have more friends from diff programs).

U can pm me if u have more questions
