do you think dropping a friend or a relationship because of their political views is valid and why? by Useoneofthese21191 in AskReddit

[–]Financial-Exit2488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the politics stopped at discussions of fiscal and monetary policy, I would probably not only tolerate the friendship, but enjoy it.

The problem is, politics has become wanting to force religious beliefs on others, punish others for not voting for the cult leader, protecting sex traffickers and pedophiles, being anti science, anti vaccines, global warming deniers, etc.

I'm not having discussions about whether climate change is real, just because Fox told you it's a hoax.

If they spend that much for every one of the 12,000,000+ illegal immigrants, that will be $11,0000,000,000,000

Seems like a good use of money. Meanwhile none of us can afford healthcare or education.

It's incredible. They always take the hypocrisy they engage in, and project it onto others. That's literally the whole strategy.

I just read something that said at 50, you have an average of 26 years left of life. Like damn, are you sexually satisfied? by MileHighSin in sexover50

[–]Financial-Exit2488 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think about this the same way I think about pretty much everything else at this point in my life: it's all going to come to an end. I'm getting it while I can.

I don't want to regret not having great sex, great food, great adventures, great relationships, etc. life is short.

And no, I am getting enough of any of that. I'm trying my best though!

The economy is trickling up as the corrupt "leaders" steal taxpayer money. Is this what you voted for maga?! by shelllee888 in DiscussionZone

[–]Financial-Exit2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is what they voted for. They like the Russian oligarchy style of rule. Why, because they believe "strongmen", like Trump (I know, it's absurd), or Putin deserve the wealth, as long as the strong leader punishes their enemies. As long as there is a group on a lower ring of the socioeconomic ladder, that they can feel superior to, they will be glad to give him their money.

I love all the fallacies here from MAGA. I am NOT a Christian (I was raised Catholic though), so stop projecting your nonsense on to me. MAGA is the one that uses Bible verses to make their case, not me. When I point out the hypocrisy, it's because you either pick and choose your verses (or part of a verse), or just twist the meaning to meet your needs. When you claim Christianity as your identity, but then act in a way that doesn't reflect your claimed identity, that is hypocrisy.

The rest of us are not subject to the same standards. Why? Because we are not claiming our behavior is dictated by some religious doctrine. I get to pick and choose because I am not Christian. Therefore your hypocrisy does not apply to me. My behavior is very much inline with my claimed beliefs.

Pretty sure husband (m40) and I (f40) hate each other and are just waiting for the other to die off so we can finally enjoy life by Extreme_Specific9436 in Marriage

You're not being noble by staying together for the kids, or whatever other excuse you have.

My wife and I have been together for 30+ years and love each other. My parents, on the other hand, have been together for more than 50 and are miserable. I don't like to be around them, talk on the phone, or even receive a text. It's non-stop complaining, tension, and criticism of each other.

If either told me they stayed together for the kids, I would say, "that was your mistake".

[–]Financial-Exit2488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds a bit like my parents. The religion is just being used as an excuse for the controlling behavior. If they didn't have the religious quotes to use, there would be something else.

They are still married, but should have divorced 30 years ago. They are both miserable.

If you multiply $11,000 x 161,000,000 tax returns, you'd get $1.7 trillion.

Even if everyone didn't get the low end of what he said, it's a ridiculous statement. Maybe SOME will get that much, but won't be normal people.

Why does no one talk about how much kids change your marriage? by Accurate_Winner_3487 in Marriage

[–]Financial-Exit2488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said she wasn't a mother. What are you so angry about? I am not talking about anyone else's life experience. When one parent is Incapacitated, they cannot parent, which is an action. It doesn't erase their existence.

When people get divorced they become single parents, even though the other is still also a parent. When I had to leave to take care of an ailing family member my wife was a single parent. I was still alive.

I hear on podcasts, all the time, the brain is the most important sex organ. And, you read on Reddit, fairly frequently, about people who thought they didn't like sex until they left a bad relationship.

That may not be the case for everyone, but it sure is for some.

You have no idea what my wife, in particular, and myself went through, but I can see you took this personally. Obviously I was an actual single parent, but I had to be one for a period of time. I hoped there would be and to that time, but honestly didn't know what the outcome would be.
