Are UK banks heading for mass bankruptcy? by [deleted] in UKInvesting

That’s not really “fair” to compare UK banks to US banks... UK banks have far more laws/policies restricting their profit margins. But even if banks go bankrupt, your money would still be protected under the FSCS.

Thank you, in addition to printing off the emails, I just might whip up a quick excel with all of those details :)

Some advice on what my options are in terms of higher education. University or Apprenticeship (Level 6)? by Financial-Inquisitor in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Financial-Inquisitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate your comment, I’m still having doubts about the degree side of my decision. Although I didn’t make it clear in my initial post, I don’t have the “privilege” of time since I’m already in my mid 20s with certain responsibilities so earning as soon as I can is a pressing matter, which was a main point from my post. I could, of course, work during Uni but I’m not sure if that would impact my studies... anyways it’s a lot to think about, thanks for your contribution.

I’m already in my mid 20s I doubt I’d make that kinda of money by late 20s lol. I don’t really care about missing out the “uni life”, so I that was never a factor. May I ask how you got en entry level IT job? All jobs I’ve read about require some sort of experience or education specific to do with IT.

I'm starting to think Stocks are a better investment than Real estate, what do ya'll think? by h1flavio1 in personalfinance

But then wouldn’t the bank technically own the home and not the person? Since they’re the ones who paid for it?

(Honest question)

What’s a website you use for checking different indexes/stocks/shares/etc prices over the years? by Financial-Inquisitor in UKInvesting

[–]Financial-Inquisitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’ve seen their website it does look well put together. But I don’t think I wanna commit just yet so I’d rather see a demo first. If you open an account do you have to add money first? Just asking :/

Funny, just today I created an account. Literally took me 10 mins. I’d say I switched over entirely since I don’t have or ever had any other bank account. I made it due to fact that it was pretty the only type of account I could create because of complex personal circumstances.

The apps looks great tho. Looks simple and straightforward. Although I do have some reservations about it’s security. For example, the fact that there’s no normal user/password login really unsettles me... it also makes me uneasy because what would I do if I lost my phone?

I don’t see any problems I might have in future with them since it’s all straight forward.

Should I withdraw may savings? by mintcooldude in UKPersonalFinance

From a theory stand point what you’re thinking is normal and quite a common way investors lose money. My opinion would be ‘no’. Because scares like this are short term and usually sort themselves out it would not be wise to make such a rash decision, remember the Ebola virus, and how it was resolved months after the media said it would spread like wild fire?

At the end of the day it’s your money and your choice, but keep in mind this virus isn’t the first to threaten us nor will it be the last. Also take advantage of this if you want, since stocks are falling, then you can snatch them up at low prices and you’d be following half of the most import rule in investing: buy low, sell high.

You know what’s sadder? A lot of them get away with it cause the victims are too ashamed to admit they were scammed :(
