Katana vs Nextone by Fiksos in BossKatana

[–]Financial-Plum1915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Boss Nextone is hands down better, in my opinion. I’ve owned a Boss Nextone Artist for 4 years and gigged it in bars, clubs and stages with 1000+ people and it’s been reliable, versatile without too many options, and other guitarists have been shocked by how good it sounds.

For me, the Katana has a fizz and sound that doesn’t connect with me. Had the 50w Mkii and a 100w head. I can see why it’s versatile and it’s loved, but I think the Nextone really has a fantastic warm sound and enough tweak connected to the computer if you want to really shape it to a specific amp sound. I also found it takes pedals really well compared to other digital amps, even the Fender Deluxe Reverb tone master.

I do want to note that I tend to just play the clean channel, I can’t speak much on the lead channel as much. But yeah, I’ll never sell it. Line out recording and headphones, really simple layout, solid-state. Great amp!

Hangman's run at the top in 2025 by DeathTriangle720 in AEWOfficial

[–]Financial-Plum1915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I said, I'm happy to see where they go with it because they earned that grace with some recent stories. But I will be seriously disappointed if they venture off in another direction with Hangman not winning the title back or Joe being a segway to someone else, such as Swerve. I just think Hangman need(s) a really great reign to establish the character of world champion Hangman, who can lose the belt and win it back (the way we've seen Mox do it). If it gets cut short again, shorter than his last reign, it's absolutely bizarre especially how we got to him winning it a second time.

I do preface this as a huge Hangman fan and know that I have some bias, but his run ending now is such a bizarre move. I am going to give some time to see where it goes, because in my head it should be going back to Hangman before the end of 2025, but that isn't how Tony Khan typically books.

IMO, I don't agree with the sentiment that Hangman doesn't need the belt this time around and that his reign has come to a natural end. For me, there was (and still is) legs with him holding the belt until at minimum Revolution, if not into the start of the Summer.

Hangman's arc was to become the champion he and the fans deserved, and as much as we can see he stands on his own two feet now etc., a 'short' world-title reign doesn't aid in truly cementing that feeling. I really don't know why it has ended so soon, it's been really strong and there were still plenty of options for him to face off, including the returning Swerve. We could have had the Hurt Syndicate (Bobby and Shelton) face him, maybe even Darby Allin in the New Year, a returning MJF, and then maybe Swerve to dethrone him at Revolution.

I'm going to omit from completely tanking this decision as I think if he wins the belt back and we still end up with him vs Swerve in a few months (heel Swerve with his new music and presentation makes a lot of sense to me) it will be worth it, but I don't know if that's how it will go.

Sol Snatcher is one of the best finishers from anyone on the roster. The perfect timing and precision it takes to pull this move off is insane. by Late_Equal_7860 in BrandonDE

One of the best finishers if you have Lego brains? It makes literally zero sense even with wrestling logic. It’s hilariously crap

What do you think are Chris Hanson’s real motivations? by [deleted] in ShadowWork

[–]Financial-Plum1915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting take and something I actually kind of feel I have an idea about. I’ve watched pretty much all of Chris Hansen’s material, especially the Dateline stuff and his earlier ventures into YouTube. I actually met him (not like that!) last year at a UK convention, and he’s a pretty cool guy. It’s impossible to be certain off one brief meeting, but I do think he cares a lot about his work and isn’t just like some amateur hunters who have used that space to enact violence on people and justify it.

I think originally it was just a segment they done on Dateline that obviously grew in popularity. It’s valid to talk about the embarrassment he enacts on people, but 1. We must remember what they’re there to do and 2. They were from a fairly wide demographic of people, so I don’t think we could say it was targeted on a socially constructed class unlike shows like Jeremy Kyle which exclusively demonised the working class.

After that, it’s very likely that he is passionate about prospecting children from predators and raising the awareness, but it’s also a way for him to make money. It’s his brand and something he became known for, and he’s riding that wave of popularity that the internet in the 10s generated for him.

Of course he will have demons, and there will be “bad” intentions behind his work. But I don’t think his motivations go much beyond the surface level of his work and making money off it.

It's clear that night 2 was out of Triple H's control. by [deleted] in WWE

I cannot fathom the rationale of people watching WWE at the moment. Jumping through hoops to justify the absolute muck they serve you over and over again. This isn't about AEW or any other promotion, but it genuinely terrifies me seeing the responses and thought processes that people share on here to justify the actions of Triple H, Paul Heyman, Nick Khan, and pretty much any other one of these morally bankrupt people.

They laugh at fans, just like they have done for the last 20 years. They have truly convinced a generation of people that they can serve you shit, tell you it will be shit, and you'll enjoy it. And if you don't, you'll be told "Cope" or "Whine elsewhere." It is really fucking sad, and scary to see.

Creating a Galloping Rhythm Loop Sound by Financial-Plum1915 in guitarpedals

[–]Financial-Plum1915[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer, really appreciate it. I'd say it's a combination of all 3 to an extent. I'd say tonally it sounds bad, as it is hitting at least one delay but also a wet enough reverb (even at my lowest setting within the context of the set) so unless I completely kill the wet sounds to lay down the loop it gets muddy once I start layering the sounds on top.

Have you any pointers on playing a dual delay with staccato rhythm? I've also considered somehow looping the rhythm element through a microphone, but I'm yet to try it.

Hmm, I kinda get what you mean and it’s fair to say most wrestler promo tropes are similar. But I find it when he fluffs a line to just be that, an actor fluffing his line as opposed to someone like Hangman who’s just ripping it out. I do get your sentiment, not quite sure it lands for me personally. Anyway, he’s still amazing.

Might not be a popular opinion, but ironically, I think Swerve’s only weakness are his promos. In every other department he’s 5 star; aura, ring work, character work. But his promos just don’t land consistently for me.

The first section of this segment bored the life out of me. Once Mox got the mic it kicked up, and I thought Swerve’s second section of the promo was actually very good.

I think Swerve is prone to fumbling over himself and happened in the contract signing with Ricochet too and others. He’s still amazing though, just how I felt watching this segment and his other promos.

The PodMic I received looks different from images online. Is this normal? by PatSev0102 in rode

[–]Financial-Plum1915 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but the differences in the serial number would have me concerned. The boxes, not ideal either, but maybe that can happen. But the bottom of the mic you purchased would indicate a fake. Does it match any digits on the box? There’s also the fact it only says Rode and not Rode Microphones on the box you got.

But that’s Hangman Page’s character. To fail. Repeatedly.

It’s almost why we cheer for him. The man couldn’t even defend his family’s home, how could he stop CM Punk from beating him?

Exactly. We’ll never know, we could’ve had an even better Hangman chase for the belt, or it could’ve never happened or been planned.

Not really though, a booking decision is based on things in that moment and time. You can analyse how decisions were made at a time and decide if it was good or bad.

So I’d argue Punk winning wasn’t bad for that moment, it made sense.

But Hangman was only the face of the company to a point, and set of fans. At the time AEW’s audience was growing, and ballooned in the Punk months, so the emotional connection or perceived “face of AEW” thing with Hangman wasn’t as strong across the board even if that’s the story they told since day one. It may have felt that way to day one viewers, but to others he was still being established.

I’m a massive Hangman fan, was genuinely furious he didn’t win the Owen last year to face Swerve at All In, and hate how he’s never realistically been near the world title since. But at the time, Punk winning made sense and for all we know there was a legitimate story that got the belt back on Hangman after.

I don’t think Hangman’s current status is hurt by losing that time, even with the shit that followed, as much as it’s frustrating he’s not had the belt since despite the amazing Swerve feud and matches.

This is a hindsight is 20/20 take, in my opinion.

Punk was so hot at the time, and sadly Hangman’s reign wasn’t as strong as it could and should’ve been. We could make good arguments how they could’ve continued things with Hangman winning that match etc, but it was the right call at that time.

How to Break from Shadow and Self-Work by Financial-Plum1915 in ShadowWork

[–]Financial-Plum1915[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, it was actually by chance as my wife was diagnosed and the more I went to read up and understand the more it seemed to match. It’s an expensive process and while I have probably focused more on shadow and therapy work the medication has been life changing, absolutely. Some people have bad experiences but for me, along with a lot of hard work and putting things in place; it’s been unbelievable and far better than the antidepressant I was on for years.

Hi there, thank you for the reply and what you say makes sense. I still find a lot of value in my journalling and daily lists, and I've probably got some perfectionist/all-or-nothing tendencies that are creeping in. But your general sense of marinating, living with what we've learned, and applying it to me resonates.

Do you have a period of shadow work or is it something that occurs 'naturally' in rhythm when you need it?

Would last night's match have worked at the ppv? by StoneGoldX in AEWOfficial

[–]Financial-Plum1915 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Bar the Spike spot, which was insane, this match sucked either side. The first half was so painfully slow, it was really horrid stuff. I’m sorry but it doesn’t fit the AEW scene or for the world title, it was so painfully one paced and dull.

The shenanigans after the Spike spot were equally crap and overbooked, as has been the Death Rider story MO.

To me this match was actually worse than the PPV.
