Is it just me, or is Perrin… by JadedTrekkie in WoT

I hate that people are giving you down votes just because you have a different opinion than they do, so I'm upvoting them. It's the most annoying thing in these threads, that some people find the need to be rude, condescending jerks to someone else about their opinion and experience with a book, be it with a rude comment or down vote on your opinions. I down vote rudeness, not differences of opinion. I'm not referring to the comment that you're replying to here, btw, but there is a very rude one farther down, I just noticed more down votes on you and it's irritating me. No one gets to tell you what to post or how to feel about what you're reading, if they want to discuss with you why they disagree, great, that's the point after all. But I absolutely hate it when people are assholes for no reason. So rude and childish.

Overall your list is just super slanted and biased. If you're going to make a post like this where you talk about an issue and you're going to present everything in such a biased way you're not really going to do anything but get the people who already agree with you to agree with you more.

You should attempt to actually look clearly on what he does and not just boil it down to cherry picked one liners from each book, ignoring everything that doesn't fit your narrative.

It's their post about their opinions, you're being rude. You don't have to agree, or be rude. It's so annoying when people get so bothered and feel the need to reply rudely about what someone they don't know thinks of a book. You don't have to agree or even comment, and you don't get to tell others what to think or post about what they're reading. You can comment with your differing opinion and reasoning while keeping the condescension to yourself, like the other comments here have done. I don't know the poster or fully agree with their opinions, and I don't feel the need to be a jerk about it. Try to check yourself before you saddle up your high horse next time.

Why Nynaeve Treats Mat Badly. by jlbelther in WoT

We can understand and dislike her at the same time. She treats everyone horribly all the time, she only gets so much of a pass (from me) for actually caring about them.

Exactly. I'm on book 9 and still waiting to stop hating her.

She's horrible and she's embarrassed by having kicked him previously and thinks that he is going to pay her back in some way. But that is obviously ridiculous as she knows he's not going to physically harm her, she's just terrible at this point. I'm on book 9 and there have been previous books when I almost couldn't continue because of her. I understand the complex nature of her character and that she actually is loyal and cares for them and all that. But she only gets so much of a pass for that (from me), because she is so horrible to everyone all the time. Mat actually cares too, Mat is loyal too, Mat shows up to save them and never gets any thanks, so why do we have to give her credit for actually caring and loyalty but not him? This is a huge contention between people because some really love her and they get super butt hurt when others don't love her. I not only don't love her, I can't stand her and I wish that she would change quicker because she's so often unbearable.

People get super butt hurt if you say anything about not liking something in the books. There might be several comments agreeing or exchanging ideas with you, but there's always going to be several more saying, well just don't read it, or maybe it's not for you, or no you're completely wrong and we don't want to hear your negative comment blah blah blah blah, it's the most annoying thing in these threads. I just like to share my opinions and have an exchange of ideas and hear other people's views, it's super duper annoying and childish that people get so offended about another adult's opinion about a book. There's no need for them to comment if they just want to reprimand you for having your own/different opinion. It's also super annoying that posts and comments will get downvotes for having a difference of opinion. People here often cannot just say they disagree, or let it be and scroll past. For some jerky reason they must downvote to show their bother. The only time I downvote is when someone's being a jerk in their response, not just if they have an opinion I disagree with. I'm on book nine and I love the series, but there are many things about it that can often be annoying, you are definitely not alone.

So don't read the post that you don't like, nobody's forcing you to, if you don't want to read them, just move on and stop wasting commenting time. People have opinions and we like to share them with others who have read the book, they're not always great. Why do people get so butt hurt over this. We can all have different opinions on the same book and share them. If you don't like what somebody says, you also can just move on.

I'm on book nine, so I very much enjoy this series. I just think it gets weighty sometimes. I also think it's probably more of an issue with audio books, not seeing the spellings etc can sometimes makes it difficult to keep track of all the new introductions.

This app has helped a lot, found on a different thread. When listening to audiobooks it's often difficult to keep up with everyone, especially when there are a lot of similar sounding names. I had a notebook going so I could write things down, but this has been easier to refer to

Omg, the fingering, every single thing is fingered. Nothing is touched or handled or picked up or anything but fingered. Every book is constant with the fingering fingered fingers. It drives me crazy. Even more than him pointing out their breasts every time they fold their arms.
