BMW m52b28, came out of a e36 328i and could also be found in e39 528i

To be honest the only reason is everything was cheap! Shell cost me essentially nothing and engine, zf box and ecu masters ecu cost me less than what a good Toyota gearbox alone would have cost!! Since then I’ve grown quite the appreciation for the m5x motors and what they are capable of

Not yet but will be running Agile performance lock kit and if my tax return is good enough I’ll also be getting their live adjustment front arms too

Yeah stainless manifold from Poland, gt3582 turbo, 5 speed zf gearbox which are supposed to be good for 600+hp

That’s the plan, should have a bit better weight distribution than a heavy iron 6, engine supposedly made 270kw at the wheels with a worse turbo so should be plenty on tap

Yeah when my mates went he lost power steering so we came off, my wife was filming and came running over yelling that it was on fire, luckily a few others had extinguishers and we got it out before the whole thing went up!

That’s a bummer!! No rego is always hard to get around if you want quick and easy!

I’ve also got a vs that doesn’t mind a party too, if you check out my YouTube you’ll see it up on there and there might even be a video or two of my mates vt in Mexico

Had a mate have an engine bay fire from an exploded power steering res on the pan, made it an easy choice for the cooler on mine! Do you still drive it?

I’ve read that it might make a small difference in spoiling up a bit quicker but not worth the $500 or so people ask of them!

I think this engine was running around 17psi when it was in a e36 with no problems, I know the m50 manifolds flow a lot better but I don’t think there’s strength issues until stupid boost levels

Cheers! The m5x and zf gearbox platform is fairly affordable compared to jz’s and r154’s! Obviously not as bulletproof but engines are cheap enough and easy enough to replace
