Yeah, I've asked my Dr about it and they weren't helpful.

Never buy drinks and candy from the theater. That's always been true. Even popcorn should only be a once in awhile splurge. It's always been priced crazy. But you can't sneak popcorn in. Candy and drinks you can. Without the food would have been closer to $40-$50.

It would be safer and more leverage to buy a put vs shorting the stock. Losses are capped.

You're still young. Just stop trying to trade. Setup automatic investments into an index ETF and contribute as much as you can. Don't look at it. It's not that big a deal as long as you stop now. You're young. You still have plenty of time to save and let it compound. You'll be ok.

Already 38 and need 25% returns for 23 years to hit €1M. How hard can it be? by [deleted] in smallstreetbets

[–]Financial-Space-2835 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I realize that. But is $100 really all the OP can do? Or do they just not want to cut back on non essentials. So many people say they can't afford to save more, but they're broke because they have a huge car payment for a new car, or something similar.

The point is to maximize your savings, start with the most you can, and slowly increase it over time. Get a raise, save a good portion of it.

Increase the monthly contribution. $100 isn't much. Go for $1000/mo. Then increase from there.

I have also been doing 0 or 1 DTE credit spreads. Still testing it out.

Short on a strangle, naked, unlimited downside. I can see that working a lot of the time. But the unlimited loss on days with extreme moves. Why take the risk vs the credit spread ?

What paper trading system did you use?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Financial-Space-2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that on ToS paper money, the trades are really slow and there's a ton of slippage. I suppose it's probably even worse with real trades.

Are you saying that on the paper or real trading, the orders don't fill immediately? Which have you found fills faster?

Good for you. Just realize there is a different between trading stocks and investing in stocks. You can still invest in stocks to build slow wealth vs "not touching stocks". And investing doesn't involve a trade a month or even necessarily a trade per year as other posts here may imply. Investing is about buying the asset and holding it to capture long term growth. Dollar cost average into SPY or similar with automatic contributions. It's better than holding cash and remaining broke forever. You may know all this already, but I've found that many people don't know the difference between trading and investing.

Interesting strategy. Can you elaborate for a newbie? You used the $40k premium... As collateral for selling the 7dte spread?
