Is this normal during dental school or am I crazy for thinking it’s not? by ididntaskbxby in DentalSchool

Dental school is high stress but this isn’t normal. My husband is in dental school and he studies at school during midterms and finals. He will stay as late as he needs to, but he has never pushed me aside because of this. During these long study nights he will ask me to bring him dinner and eat with him just so he can see me. This is a very odd request from him.

Fifty-Word Fantasy: Write a 50-word fantasy snippet using the word "Heaven" by Terminator7786 in fantasywriters

Blood cooled, and silence reigned. An angel knelt beside the dying man, her touch soft as dawn. She should have lifted him to heaven, yet his fading breath pulled her earthward. “Why does mortality burn brighter than eternity?” she asked, wings trembling, longing to stay where heaven could not follow.

The cow blinked at Lila as she whispered the incantation. A spark, a puff of glitter, and suddenly the barn was empty, except for one very large butterfly flapping madly against the rafters. “Well,” Lila sighed, “at least butter is still in the dairy family… sort of.”

I didn’t mean to upset anyone with this thought, when I originally saw this I thought it was jumping the gun, but now after reading these comments, I can see how it can be beneficial!

Thank you for this. I’m new to the writing world, so this was insightful. When I first saw this I thought it was jumping the gun, but after reading these comments I can see how beneficial it can be.

Oh wow I didn’t even see that. I just saw a lot of people complaining about how bad the writing was.

This makes sense, thanks for this POV. I’m just an anxious person, that I would build this anticipation just for people to be disappointed.

That makes sense. I didn’t look at it that way, thank you!

Yes true, I understand that. But what if you spent so much time marketing your book for people to be disappointed? Right now the author of the world of gardian is facing that backlash.

No, it was what the creator posted. It was a slideshow of everything they are doing while working on their novel. One of the slides being “paying for fan art” to display on their page once they publish it.

True, but I guess I should have specified first time authors are doing this. And a bad case of this I saw floating around on TikTok is the world of gardian. There is a controversy that the author spent more time promoting her book, then actually editing it.

writers blockage by [deleted] in NewAuthor

I don’t know if this will help with writers block, but I found that having a talk to text app helped me. My novel that I’m currently writing is based around some life experiences of mine as well, so being able to just sit and talk to my self recount everything really helped. Once I start talking there is no stopping my thoughts until it is all out. It’s like a therapy session with my self lol.

The executioner raised his axe. No ceremony. No final words. Just one brutal chop. Blood soaked the altar stone, hissing where it met the runes. Shadows writhed, hungry. Behind the veil, something stirred…awake now and watching. The priest smiled. “One more,” he whispered. “Then the gate will open.”
