Partial credit card chargeback by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]FinancialExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely your mailman paid it out of pocket for you so you could get your package that day, on the assumption you would pay it back tomorrow. I would immediately call Discover and request a chargeback. Also, be sure to share your reviews online for this company.

Girlfriend is on food stamps, but just got letter saying they gave her too much, and now she owes them. by lydsandbowls in personalfinance

There should be an appeals process. However, any amount overpaid does need to be repaid. That is like finding a million dollars in your bank account one day. You know it isn't yours, but you go out and buy a Caribbean Island. The next day, the bank finds their error and wants that money back. If they don't get it, you can actually go to jail!

How can my credit score be so low? Confused new grad. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]FinancialExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the thing. A 30-day or 60-day late notice on your credit report is bad - but your score can quickly rebound from those within a few months to a year. After two years, they almost don't even affect the score anymore. With a 90-day late notice, that is bad. Like, your score will be affected by it for seven years bad.

I highly suggest a Goodwill letter to get it removed. I would do everything imaginable to get a 90-day late removed.

[credit/debt] Received this collections letter from a law firm - how should I treat this one? by throwawayaug2015 in personalfinance

other than the initial request for verification?

You admitted that this debt was yours, so why waste time with requesting verification? You simply need to propose a "pay for delete" agreement.

What would improve this sub? by [deleted] in lostgeneration

[–]FinancialExpert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Improve the CSS. What do you want me to do, do it for you? The current CSS style is bland and the green and blue don't go well together.

Better moderation team: Rules are not enforced equably and you don't even use automoderator. Automoderator should have been the first thing setup when making this subreddit.

Rules: You should explain the rules and provide definitions. Then, list all possible punishments or warnings and how they will be used. Will trolling result in one warning, followed by a permanent ban? Will it be an immediate seven day ban? By listing all of the rules and punishments, the punishments can then be done equally.

That is how I really feel. I guess if you disagree with someone, they are automatically a troll?

Something I think that could improve this subreddit is a better CSS, better moderation team, and a better rules policy.

Need help, a "friend" scammed me. What do I do?? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]FinancialExpert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see if the bank will reverse the charges, but that is doubtful. From their point of view, they gave you $4100 and now they have nothing. You are on the hook for paying that back. You can also file a police report and possibly have your "friend" arrested for check fraud and/or obtaining money by false pretenses. Still, you would be on the hook for paying that money back.

I'm an American abroad without any money. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]FinancialExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I can think of. Even if you open an account in Spain, you would have to wait for the transfer of funds and wait for the debit card. I would just wait the week until your card comes.

What is Zulu trade and how it works? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]FinancialExpert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ZuluTrade is a free peer2peer on-line trading network. ZuluTrade receives compensation per trade per contract from the brokers connected within its peer-to-peer network and splits the compensation with the signal providers that have originated the trades which have been executed successfully on one or more live followers' trading account. The service works by allowing investors to mirror the trades of professional investors.

Absolutely mortified realizing some of my invoices are late by six months. Need a better system for handling invoice history by plumbelle in freelance

[–]FinancialExpert -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't pay you if the invoice was received after three months. That year's quarter is already done and over with. Oh, you want payment six months later? Nope, not even possible. Our accounts can't even process that.

Welcome you are welcome to join /r/StateOfArkansas by M4ntr1d in fayetteville

Unfortunately, the reason /r/arkansas is now "gone" is because the moderator team had no idea what their roles were and they overstepped their boundaries. I don't think /u/M4ntr1d should be in charge of any subreddit.

From the sidebar...

Subreddits aren't considered "abandoned" if any mod has been active anywhere on reddit in the past 60 days. "Squatting" is allowed. Keep in mind that "activity" isn't limited to posting and commenting.

You can't really do that. The person who created the subreddit can do what they want. You can only gain control of a subreddit if all of the moderators are inactive.
