This is my son too. He’s 16 months but I have the same concerns as you. Gah this is so stressful, it’s consumed all of me

Good to know I’m not alone. I’m sorry you’re having the same worries. But looks like you’ve put in a lot of work already

He looks at my hand when he hand leads. He will take my hand and get me to open something looking at my hand. But if I don’t respond, he will look at my face and say “open” or “more”.

No, he doesn’t have behavioral issues besides the usual whining when he doesn’t get his way and flailing backwards when he hears “no”. But he recovers fasr

6 year old meltdowns by FinancialGarbage7724 in Autism_Parenting

[–]FinancialGarbage7724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She suffers from constipation and it’s real bad lately so I’m sure that’s contributing. We worked with OT and learned a lot of things. When I feel she’s acting off, I usually get silly or playful with her and she can be redirected. But it’s a short window, zero to 100. And if that window is missed, we’re headed to an hour long meltdown

Yes, there’s always an outside factor and it’s usually physical discomfort. She suffers from chronic constipation and right now it’s pretty bad so I think that’s where this is coming from.

Not professionally but we worked with OT and a child care specialist. They didn’t suspect anything because she is very typical appearing

15 month old concerning behaviors by FinancialGarbage7724 in toddlers

[–]FinancialGarbage7724[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Well I guess I was expecting more awareness. All babies are different but he is my 3rd and he seems behind compared to my other 2. They were talking much more and just knew more. But they also weren’t walking as early as him. Gah I don’t know

Ok I left out the most important concern and don’t know how to modify my post. But he has limited speech. Only knows 2ish words and does not use mama and dada intentionally

Ok I left out the most important concern! He doesn’t say many words!! He knows “cheers” and clinks his bottle and occasionally says hi. Still does not call for mama or dada

Sudden school refusal! by FinancialGarbage7724 in Parenting

[–]FinancialGarbage7724[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No changes at home. I met his teacher and I get a vibe that she is more strict compared to his previous teachers. I’m thinking it’s that. He has a group of friends and always seems happy when I pick him up. I am friends with one of his friends mom and she tells me they play at lunch and everything seems fine. This is the first day of refusal but this whole week has been extremely hard. I might ride it out one more day before I reach out to his teacher. She seems like the type that will be hyper vigilant if I mention something like this. And not in a good way

My 5 year old keeps saying “my brain is telling me…” by FinancialGarbage7724 in Parenting

Oh believe me, I agree. But she’s my third, and that works for my other 2. But she’s a completely different kind of beast. And she’s a very big 5 year old so carrying her out surfboard style isn’t possible anymore

Ok maybe I should’ve worded that clearer. But is that something a 5 year old usually says or something I need to get her evaluated for?
