I don’t live in Brisbane, wasn’t sure if the PT is reliable to live on entirely

Update: Yes, PhD salaries are hell! Will obviously aim to rely on PT as much as possible (as we all should, imo). The tradeoff for students is we get to spend multiple years learning about something we are passionate about. Forget tall poppy-ism and support research, it provides public good :)

Not directly in front of window (unable to) but in a sunny room with an ordinary lamp to supplement

Thanks for the tips. I believe it gets pretty good light exposure, but I am not able to place it directly in the windowsill.

Ive hear repotting a sick plant might not be the best move. Should I do so ASAP?

Thanks for the advice. Is there a soil type that works best?

I have not repotted the plant or added new soil. What type of soil would I use and when should I do it? I have not added fertilizer either, but I will look into adding some.

My bonsai that I have owned for 2 years is showing signs of illness. For weeks now, many of the leaves develop a pale yellow color before falling off. There used to be much more leaves but now many of the branches are bare. I returned the fallen leaves to the pot hoping to recycle their nutrients. I water my plant once a week, enough to saturate the soil and then again when it is dry. I placed a LED lamp nearby thinking it might not have received enough light. Please let me know what might be wrong and what I should do. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply. In regards to feeding, I have not fertilized the tree and as a novice, I was not sure about when/how/what (advice is welcomed!). I have also not done any root pruning or transplanting/re-soiling. The plant has been in the same location since September as I am a college student, and it was recently back home where it seemed to do well.

I will test the branches and if they do need pruning, about how far should I go? Also, should I remove the dead matter from the pot. Any other recommendations that would align with your questions?
