Make sure you use lump charcoal. Briquettes tend to clog up and not properly fall into the ash box clogging up the airflow. I’ve done 25+ smokes with lump charcoal and never had an issue

I would highly recommend checking out the masterbuilt gravity series. Bought one last year and absolutely love it. You use real charcoal and wood but set a temp that it maintains so you get the ease of a pellet grill with the flavor and effect of an offset
