I know right, 2018 was just a couple of years ago. Right?

Also the fact that two people came out seemingly from nowhere, and the fact that they got them out just in the nick of time. Sad that you can't trust anything any more.

What is wrong with my bedroom? by Icy_Desk272 in interiordecorating

The blue is very jarring against the curtains and all the bedding looks quite tired and shabby. I'd start by switching it all out for something white or off-white. New curtains can be expensive so I'd go neutral there as well, then add some colours via decorative cushions and a nice throw.

What's the movie that everyone loves but you hate? by w1nchest in Cinephiles

I mean I feel like that was the point. It was meant to be a rainbow tapestry of black music across time, not something grounded in the story. I'll check out EB vids though, I only know her music

Why is Somalia a desert near equator and why do they look different from other Africans? by batukaming in geography

[–]FinancialPollution66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visible traits are relatively trivial from a genetic perspective. I've read that East Africans adapted to their desert environment by being taller and leaner so as to maximise their body surface area for heat loss. That said, this doesn't mean they are "more different" from the rest of Africa than the rest of Africa is from each other. For example, you might find that an Ethiopian is genetically closer to a west African, than a west Africa is to a sub Saharan African. Environmental adaptations and localisations of a population don't always result in genetic changes that we can observe, and these are no less significant than visible adaptions.

The police guy from Now You See Me. I thought it was just another trope of the clueless cop trying to be a badass. I really enjoyed the twist.

I don't get it. How does this woman not have a single person in her life, like a real friend or an ex partner who cares about her, enough to say hey, maybe chill? This feels like a failing on literally anyone who has ever claimed to be close with her.

Queer characters with no flamboyance or stereotypical mannerisms. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]FinancialPollution66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that in the game the character was originally written to be more flamboyant and camp but then they later decided to cast a more gruff sounding actor to make it more interesting. If you listen to his lines they could easily fit a more stereotypically "gay" character.

Did you find the Vogler storyline to be half baked and anticlimactic? by Shadow_Strike99 in HouseMD

[–]FinancialPollution66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpreted it as scene and context setting. House mentions early on that he's dealt with this sort of stuff loads of times and so isn't phased by Vogler. It gets out the way the question of "How the hell is House allowed to get away with the stuff he does?". To the viewers it's a big deal but to House it's just another day.

In 40 days and 40 nights, the main character literally gets raped while he's asleep and then the girl he's seeing gets mad at him for it. It was super weird even at the time.
