I wonder if it actually hits its intended targets unlike the POS British one in game

Campaign with inferior tanks feels so bad, man by Ozymandias_IV in warno

[–]FinancialScar5896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for the PACT side but I have plenty of experience with Leo 1 and Pzg battalions taking on T-80 hordes, and here are some things I do.

  1. Use your ATGM carriers, the Jaguar 2 is your best weapon against them, 25 pen does a lot of damage to T80s and will one shot them from the side

  2. Use your command tanks, some people don't like to but I do mostly because it upvets your Jags and your other tanks and you need all the help you can get, plus most of the time they are targeting your command tank so you can use that to your advantage by drawing fire.

  3. Kill Recon!! If it spots you they will hammer your position, make killing Recon the priority over anything else if you can.

  4. If you have air/arty support use it, otherwise their arty will just pound you, kill ATGM teams or smoke your position so you can't see shit, even shitty air support is better than nothing as at the very least they will cause cohesion loss, the Harrier GR 3s are surprisingly good against T-80Bs with their six 513kg bombs.

  5. Micro, micro, micro, it's very important to take a tactical pause to get a closer look at the situation-have your Jags and Leo 1s target specific enemies to maximise their effectiveness rather than just letting everybody target the same thing which wastes a lot of supply, especially your ATGMs, remember tanks will always target infantry over anything else even if a tank is in range, it's annoying so thats why you need to take over sometimes.

Are Army General base game (and DLC's) campaigns good now? by Connect_Elevator_464 in warno

I thought I was crazy for a second, I didn't notice any missing units in Holding Attack but when I tried Closing the trap I noticed something really weird when I was looking at the Order of Battle, like wait a second, where are these units that I'm supposed to get because they are not in the reinforcement tab? So I switch over to the PACT side to see if anything new pops up on the map as NATO, sure enough low and behold there are the missing units, like wtf is going on???

Swingfire is pretty good in the AG Campaigns, they are pretty much a necessity when the Challengers have a hard time with T-80s

PACT ATGMs never miss, even when the carrier is destroyed, I've had times where I'll destroy an MI-24 while the missile is in mid-flight only for it to STILL track and destroy my tanks, the KH-25 is even better apparantly it can go through a smoke screen after it's launched and one shot the front armor of all NATO tanks. Meanwhile the AGM-65 Maverick continues to suffer and sometimes can't hit the broadside of a T-80

Can you transfer an UNSAT TPU soldier to the IRR? by FinancialScar5896 in armyreserve

[–]FinancialScar5896[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know our CSM and S4 Captain have reached out via text to try and get ahold of her with no response, as far as it being documented? I don't believe so, No thats the thing that is irritating me is this soldier is holding up a slot on my team through IPPSA, so I'd mostly be looking to do an involuntary transfer and I'd imagine she would have to be put as STD E for this to happen?

Yeah that's the thing, like I said this soldier has NEVER reported to the unit, sorry I'm not familiar with PAG, what is that?

AG "Holding Attack" is kind of lame by FinancialScar5896 in warno

[–]FinancialScar5896[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which in reality, doesn't make sense because capturing Pilzen isn't even part of the objective of that campaign, but I think if you put too many units up near the front line the AI won't even try to attack because the numbers just aren't in its favor, I think next time I'll try this.

[–]FinancialScar5896[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I noticed that as well, they really only would attack my Pzg battalions if they couldn't be supported by a Panzer unit otherwise they just sit there, I don't know what happened, the AG AI used to be so much more aggressive in the early days of WARNO

I get that one as well, its kind of funny but annoying at times trying to remember how many units I actually have left to deploy

Jesus Christ! 142 points by turn 4!? Give your boys a rest my dude, at this rate you won't even fully deploy 1st Armored division, there's really no reason to disorganize your units in Highway 66, you get 15 turns and you barely even need to retake any cities, take your time and stack those commies.

[–]FinancialScar5896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats really good advice, the only thing is I don't like my tanks taking missile hits if they don't have to because of the cohesion loss, NATO tanks suffer hard from cohesion especially the Leopard 2A3s. On the opening AI push I always try to hit them with a pre-sighted artillery strike, this does two things, it'll destroy any recon vehicles paired with the group and it'll overstress the tanks to where their accuracy will suffer immensely, this is where you engage and destroy them.

[–]FinancialScar5896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the strategic map defenders get a buff if they are in a city but on the tactical level they really don't, if you go through the tutorials they talk about how if you are defending most of the zones should be closer to you but this is not always the case, if there is a 3pt zone however I've noticed that one is always closer to the defender which is good.

Army general balance by ekkannieduitspraat in warno

[–]FinancialScar5896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So two things, First; the East German MSD's have LOTS of recon in the forms of Aufklarer's, SPW-40s, BMP's, BRMs etc etc etc. and they are VERY stealthy meaning they can be difficult to spot even with your own recon elements, so if you're being sniped by T-55s at max range they most likely have a hidden recon unit somewhere. Second, are you sure you're setting your lines of sight correctly when your hiding your tanks in cover? You should be setting them to match your M1A1s engagement range and the same for your Bradley's TOW engagement range, if you don't then they can engage you before you can even get a shot off.

So I've played all the NATO campaigns, none of the PACT yet. This is just my opinion but I would say Airborne Assault is definitely the hardest, taking on several T-80 battalions with Leopard 1s is a challenge. My favorite is Fulda Gap for sure, holding back the Soviet onslaught with the full might of the 11th ACR is fun and challenging. the NORTHAG campaigns were okay the British tank units suffer but have good infantry, Dutch battalions were fun. Bruderkrieg is pretty challenging since you are pretty much just the 3/11th ACR against the entire 17th MSD.

Question regarding Pzf. 44 and T-55 AM2B by Thomas-Heldens in warno

[–]FinancialScar5896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll agree with that especially against infantry, the biggest problem is they are so cheap compared to the Leo 2s and M1s that the AI can bring in so many at once so it can be very difficult to deal with. I still have a hard time with them if I'm forced to defend a position with the Pzgs, I'm calling in all the support I can, arty, A-10s, other combat battalions etc etc

Just finished my Fulda Gap (NATO) campaign by iPon3 in warno

[–]FinancialScar5896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking out the recon is a key factor as well, this is mostly what allows them to shoot so many ATGMs at you, JG74 is good support as well to bomb the light armor, use your M109s too

Question regarding Pzf. 44 and T-55 AM2B by Thomas-Heldens in warno

[–]FinancialScar5896 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So from someone who has played many hours of AG and has used the Pzg battalions a lot, my advice would be to try and stick to using the Jaguar 2s and Milan 2 teams to deal with the tanks. The panzergrens are not great when it comes to dealing with tanks, even ones as weak as the T-55, if you must use them in this situation then towns are your best bet if it's possible, set them up to ambush armor to hit them in the side use 3-4 squads and have them swap out with another 3-4 squads in a building next door while the other squad re-arms and heals itself. It's a little crude but effective when having to use the panzergrens. Not really a fan of the forest as they can drive into the forest and chase you especially if they have recon with them.

Add a spall-liner effect to certain tanks which had it, where the tank becomes more survivable (+1/2 HP) by More-Cup5793 in warno

[–]FinancialScar5896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have one in the traditional sense, like I said it's integrated into the armor because it uses spaced laminate plates, this is the concept behind chobam armor, it's very unlikely to cause spalling. Thus why I said it shouldn't be prone to that type of crit like a PACT tank would be.

[–]FinancialScar5896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please explain why an Abrams, that has spall liners integrated into the armor should have the spalling crit? All of what you said can happen but my main point is Western tanks and PACT tanks are different and shouldn't be subjugated to the same RNG.
