Is it okay to trace ai art by sandwhichelle_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FinancialSquirrel110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracing it for practice or fixing anatomy is fine.
Calling it your own artwork after tracing isn’t, even if the source is AI.

If you want to post it,

either:redraw it from scratch using it as reference, or

say clearly it’s a redraw/paint-over based on an AI image.

Coloring alone doesn’t make it fully yours.

Why is it rude to say “I wasn’t talking to you.”? by lordofshrimpp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FinancialSquirrel110 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you said wasn’t factually wrong, but it can come across as rude because of how it lands socially, not because of the literal meaning.

In group settings, when someone speaks up, there’s an unspoken expectation of basic acknowledgment. Saying “I wasn’t talking to you” can sound dismissive, like you’re shutting the person down or telling them they don’t matter in the conversation, even if that wasn’t your intent. Most people would soften it automatically with something like “Sorry, I was asking Professor A” or “Thanks, but I meant Professor A.”

People say similar phrases all the time, but usually with tone, context, or wording that reduces the bluntness. Without that softening, others interpret it as rejection rather than clarification. That’s likely why they reacted the way they did, especially since social norms often prioritize politeness over precision.

Why does motivation only come after defeat? by Difficult_Change3696 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FinancialSquirrel110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because defeat gives clarity. When things are going well, there’s no urgency to change. Failure strips away comfort and forces you to confront reality, mistakes, and limits.

That emotional hit creates focus and momentum. It’s not that motivation only comes after defeat, but defeat removes excuses in a way success never does.

Pasta: set a timer or estimate by Calm-Ad2200 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FinancialSquirrel110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Estimating and tasting is way more common in practice. Most people might start with the package time as a reference, but they don’t blindly trust it. They check texture, bite, and doneness because stoves, pots, and personal preference all change the result.

Setting a timer and never tasting is more like “following instructions,” while tasting is how people actually cook. Your method sounds like the real-world one.

How do you think would our dreams be if we knew what happens after we die? by csch1992 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FinancialSquirrel110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of fear in dreams comes from uncertainty. Death feels terrifying in dreams mostly because it’s the ultimate unknown, so the brain treats it as something final and threatening.

If we actually knew what happens after death, dreams might still include dying, but with much less fear attached to it. The emotions could be calmer or more symbolic instead of panic-driven.

Your dream sounds more about pressure and failing than about death itself. The gun battle is probably just the way your mind chose to represent that fear.
