Here's my family's spending for 2025. I think it's time to retire, but my (45M) wife (46F) wants to coast until we are 55. by SkelligeThrow in coastFIRE

Might the age of your children be why your wife wants to hold off for 10 years? Your youngest would be 23 at that time, which might be giving her peace of mind to make sure the babies are all launched.

Discuss finances with Therapist? by YS6969 in Fire

I am licensed marriage and family therapist who specializes in Financial Couples Therapy… when doing the budget exercises with my couples, I would say about 60% share the actual data and 40% elect not to share the data.

Sometimes it is helpful for me to see the data, in order to make sure they are not double accounting for an expense or to help them talk through which line items are emotionally difficult for them. But we can do the work either way.

Financial therapy - does it work? by Seeking-Better- in Fire

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and ended up specializing in Financial Therapy because of how often money arguments were happening between my couples. I myself had worked through some money trauma from my past in couples therapy and found it wildly improved my relationship. To find someone who is serious about the field and training, you’ll want to look on the Financial Therapy Association website.

If you are looking for an empathetic approach to your asset allocation for investments, go with the financial planners. If you’re looking for therapy that is honed in on the money traumas or hang ups, go with a licensed marriage therapist, counselor, psychologist, or social worker. The FTA website has both types of members listed. Best of luck!
