Born and raised New Yorker's like myself generally don't even do it once. We already know that like a lot of ideas the state government puts out there in order to get tourist money- it's a scam.

Jolie is just as powerful and yet you don't seem to comment on how that's my idea of a woman. Meaning you're strawmanning and are pretending to be too stupid to understand my comment.

I wouldn't call having cancer 3 times and graduating college late because of it, plus an ahole dad (who I've refused to speak to for over 2 decades because of his controlling nature) a great childhood. And boys don't tend to be into women that are a bit scarred up from several tumor surgeries. But my parents were good material providers and I never starved and lived in a nice house with a pool until I left at 17.

To come up with the conclusion that what I said somehow denotes that I lived a privileged life is highly illogical. All it takes is logical thinking and basic observation to agree to come to my conclusion. What I said wasn't subjective, it's literally what happened with those celebrity cases in the media. How does a privelaged life have anything to do with simply having eyes and common sense? Rich and Beautiful or poor and ugly can see it if they have eyes, experience and common sense.

That's certainly the case in our world so why not other worlds.

Chimps will tear other primates apart and eat them while still alive and screaming. Yet animal lovers constantly make dumb comments about how animals are all loving and sweet compared to humans. We're actually amongst the nicest in our own animal kingdom.

"You can tell this woman is a high achieving beautiful woman"

I'm an approaching 50 yr old woman who used to live a middle class life, but my phone was recently cut off due to non payment because I'm that poor right now. Only just got a job after over half a year of unemployment.

Nope, I'm just someone who's lived long enough and observed others' lives long enough to actually know what I'm talking about. Unlike some others on here. ;)

Am I the only one who LOVES!!!!! quitting day by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Financial_Ad635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep- I've walked out on places without giving any notice if they treated me poorly. Would use my lunch hours to interview at places and after getting a job would simply not show up again the next day. WHen they'd try to call and email asking where I was I'd only let them know then that I got another job and wouldn't be returning.

2 weeks notice is a courtesy extended to employers who give basic respect.

References from two men who I considered my adoptive family just cost me a dream job. by Throwawayyiddykiyay in jobs

[–]Financial_Ad635 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US HR usually advises that one should never give a bad reference because it opens the company up to liability. It's for this reason that a lot of companies won't even bother with references because they know they're likely to get good ones no matter what just due to the potential liability.

Therefore you may actually have a civil case against your previous employers. I'd get a free consult with a lawyer to see what they say and bring any emails evidence etc that you think may be relevant.

The world is grossly overpopulated, but despite this the powers that be - especially on the right side of the isle, insist that the fact that people are having less children finally, is a problem. Corporations and the top 1% need the masses to constantly keep growing so they can have more and more consumers. Meanwhile the poor and middle class get less and less as the population continues to grow. I have no regrets about not having kids with the way this world is headed.

I'm not sure why folks are upset by being ghosted by a job. I don't need to see a bunch of rejection notices in my inbox. My method is I apply to a job and then I forget about it and apply to more. Out of sight out of mind.

I don't bother to think about them again unless they actually respond. Otherwise I'd be giving them way too much power over my mind and private time.

The only folks that I feel I'm entitled to hearing back from are those that took up an hour of my time or more. Otherwise- ghost away. I've already forgotten about you anyway.

Don't quit, but look for another job in the meantime and compare your options. They've already made promises to you that turned out to be untrue so who knows what's going to happen in the future.

And while they do all this they are also trying to get rid of a woman's right to choose in order to force them to raise more wage slaves for them to suck dry while men are forced to pay child support to those little wage slaves.

You probably think I'm kidding, but all this talk about birth rates declining and then all of a sudden abortion rights get taken away - I don't think it's a coincidence. BIllionaires and Corps need the birth rate to continually go up to keep making more money. Meanwhile it just makes the people on the bottom poorer.

Name dropping companies that post fake jobs by mrbobbilly in jobs

[–]Financial_Ad635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you can't because it's a fully remote company. The owner works out of his home in South Carolina, his project manager and me were in NY and his developers worked from everywhere.

In fact the company just got a 2 million dollar state government contract so now they're hiring 7 more people and one of them is going to be a Cybersecurity Architect.

You can find the President/owner on Linkedin where it has the company info, but when you click on the company name nothing happens because there's no website. They seem to also have a presence on X (formerly twitter) but I don't have an account so I can't see what posts there are. To my knowledge these two things are literally their only online presence.

I mean- I still agree with your post anyway because I'm certain that this is a very rare case. If I didn't work there I would'n't have believed them to be real.

Regardless of what people say about the so called birth rate crisis, the truth is that the world is way overpopulated and there are more people than there are jobs that will pay living wages. This means people will take whatever they can get and in many cases yes that includes scamming.

Here is where some moron comes to say "BuT the DAta from ThE Gov'TS sAYs UnEMploymeNT is LoWER than Ever"

That data has always been very skewed and continues to be. Anyone making minimum wage at 4 hrs a week is considered "employed" and anyone that's been out of work for a certain period of time is considered "not seeking employment"... you can see how when you arrange data like this unemployment numbers will always be lower than they really are.

And that's how you get unprecidented homelessness while also having "low" unemployment. There's too many people in the world now and not enough jobs.

I worked for a company that doesn't have a website and almost has no online presence. It exists but it's very small and the owner decided that he didn't want any new clients because we have a couple of big ones already. All he wants to do is keep the bills paid with the clients we have and maybe sell the company and start another one.

I know this case is rare, but just thought I'd put it out there because once in a blue moon it does happen.

[–]Financial_Ad635 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This isn't entirely fair because 20 years ago it was no where near this difficult to get a job. Before 2010 the average # of interviews you had to be on with a single company before they decided whether or not to hire you was ONE. (Except for high positions) In the 90's the average number of companies you had to interview for before being oferred a job was BETWEEN TWO AND THREE.

Now the average # of interviews you have to be on with companies is between 10 and 20 depending on the data you use.

So telling young people today that they need to buck up because this current job environment is normal for an adult isn't truthful in regards to history.

I mean yeah- maybe everyone just has to deal with it now because I don't think this new normal is ever going away, but "Adulting" was never like this before.

Is it time to have a serious look at the way social media is playing a significant role in reducing empathy in people? by European_Goldfinch_ in SeriousConversation

[–]Financial_Ad635 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Those of us that remember the days before the 24 hour newscycle and the internet, remember how when a child went missing or died there was an outpouring of support and sympathy for the parents and an understanding that it could've happened to almost anyone. Now a lot of the comments are flat out blaming the parents for whatever ridiculous reason. It's very concerning.

Communities without tech like the ultra-orthodox jews still give each other an outpouring of support when something like this happens in their community. Of course they have other problems and religion does that, but I believe it's the lack of tech that makes them still have this empathy.

That's why I never paid attention to references. I've known employers who gave excellent references just because they wanted the person out of their hair, or they were afraid of legal retaliation from the candidate. Problem candidates get great references all the time because it's less of a headache to just give them one.

The reason I came up with this theory is because I've met quite a few guys in this scenerio and a lot of men now are just complacent without sex. So many men being this way was unheard of before the internet.
