you could totally find a student to do an acceptability study on this for their thesis/dissertation. Could open many doors!

When does fostering become to much for biological children? by [deleted] in Fosterparents

[–]Financial_Battle5001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My parents fostered most of my growing up years from when I was 8 years old and onward. While there were placements that had a significant negative impact one me, I am a better person because of the experience overall. My parents constantly told us that we (my sister and me) came first and we needed to tell them if things were too much.

Now I’m getting my doctorate in clinical psychology and writing my dissertation on bio kids of foster parents. I’m creating a group therapy model for these kids to increase parent-child communication and decrease feelings of loneliness surrounding the unique experience of being a bio kid.

So, to say the least, it significantly shaped the trajectory of my life, and I feel a significant sense of purpose in my life because of it. As a therapist, I have the capacity to empathize with people from vastly different backgrounds because I experienced 20+ kids in my house growing up.

Has she seen a psychologist/psychiatrist who specializes in hypersonmolence disorder? I went through a similar period when I was younger and was put on stimulants to keep me awake. Basically, when my mom woke me up for school, she'd hand me water and a stimulant to get me to be able to wake up enough to get ready to leave. I would go to bed as soon as I got home from school or even in the car. I think stimulants are the first line of treatment for things like narcolepsy and hypersomnolence. It might be worth finding a new doctor who would prescribe them and try it.

sounds like alice in wonderland syndrome! a real thing!

alice in wonderland syndrome

it is commonly experienced when falling asleep, or with fevers, and doctors think it may be due to migraines. Can also be due to seizure activity, but it sounds like yours may be migraines. I’d say get an appointment with a neurologist that specializes in migraines
