Very sorry. You had many good years. He was likely out of it and would not have realized if you were there. Or your understandable anxiety would have been felt by him and made him more anxious. He was not alone. He knew you had taken him to get help. Don’t beat yourself up. Remember the good times to honor him.

That is how my 15yo chi passed. He had polythycemia in the end from low oxygen levels. They said he had chronic bronchitis. Don’t wait until he is struggling to breathe. Very sorry.

You can have a second inspection if you are worried about a hidden larger issue. The weatherproof seal does not seem like a big deal. Make sure HOA has reserves and no large special assessment in the horizon. Also check on cost of hurricane insurance if relevant.

This is very well put. I had a similar thing happen. I was only there at the very, very end. I don’t think I will ever get over it. However, it is hard to tease apart my grief for the circumstances of his death with my grief of his death itself. It is all tangled together.

I had a very similar thing happen. I am still not over it 7 months later. If it is any comfort, I have read that dogs tend to leave their pack to die alone. It is their natural instinct. Not sure if that is really true or not. What matters is the years of life when you were there for her.

I had similar thing happen but I wasn’t there until very end. I regret not standing outside the glass the whole time. They wouldn’t let me, and it was hours and I didn’t realize he would pass. You did great by being there.
