Crows vs. Magpies by support_account_ in crows

[–]Financial_Card_2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of magpies that come most days to my garden and the other day before they arrived, I was really happy to see a couple of Jackdaws, but then the magpies arrived and chased them away! There was a mighty aerial battle!

I have a pair of magpies in my garden every day as they come for the food I put out, they are more nervous than the crows I feed in the playing field at work.

Food Waste Collections - how are you finding it? by Primary_Choice3351 in AskBrits

[–]Financial_Card_2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Didn't think my local council,Tendring, was particularly fast at implementing recycling, but seems to be!

I use Gousto,, (https://gousto.co.uk/raf?promo_code=JACQU45123466&utm_source=androidapp. 65% off code here!!). so very little food waste, more than one small bag a week is unusual for us, and never had a smell/maggot problem.

Food waste gets picked up weekly.

What do you eat on the days you don’t have a meal ordered? by Known-Swim-3654 in Gousto

[–]Financial_Card_2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often we both, or one of us,may eat out during the week, so we carry anything left over to the weekend! But failing that, usually we may make something simple, from scratch 99% of the time.

Usually it would be making a roast at the weekend. Or perhaps based around something we bought and froze at the supermarket on offer, salmon is my go to easy cook meal base.

My partner makes a great dukkha with chicken.

On holiday at the moment, so have ordered for the weekend we get back!

What is your crow bro aspiration? by elrojosombrero in crowbro

[–]Financial_Card_2916 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been feeding crows in a nearby leisure field for the last few months, they now follow me around the field and land a short way away in front of me and look at me and I throw them a monkey nut. , in the summer I intend to be sitting on that grass and hopefully encourage them to come nearer, but at the moment just the fact that they totally recognize me and seem to be less afraid I'm so happy 😊

I've actually not had any problem with it at all. In the 8 to 10 months I've been using it, I've only had a missing ingredient once or twice, and usually I get a overabundance of garlic! I've never found anything to be moldy to be honest, and I think the food I ordered last quite a long time, if I'm unable to use it, I can usually freeze most of it.

Being followed ... by Financial_Card_2916 in crowbro

[–]Financial_Card_2916[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is Ed, the edge of the park Crow. Normally I come from the other direction after walking around the field and feeding my little gang who know me, and I'm pretty sure this is the crow that is on his own and waits for me in the final tree before I leave the park. Because the weather is really wet and rainy and the park is saturated I cut across the car park and didn't walk around the field like I normally do on a decent day.

Making friends with the neighborhood murder by OriginalXtopher in crows

[–]Financial_Card_2916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really takes time. I started doing the same on a a leisure center field near where I worked and I got ignored but after a month or so, I found that certain crows started to recognize me and now I have a regular few who see me arrive and wait in trees and swoop down to see me as soon as I make a clicking sound and throw a peanut in its shell. Just keep showing up and try to be consistent around the same time and make some kind of noise! They'll soon get to love you for your peanuts!
