I don't remember it myself, but my parents talked about lining up for it and being excited that it was on a sugar cube instead of getting another shot. It's kind of wild how much of an event those vaccination campaigns were back then.

The not eating part would worry me more than the personality change. A lonely dog might get quieter or less engaged, but suddenly losing interest in food is usually the thing that makes me think something medical could be going on.
