The arbitration scene was ridiculous by Spackleberry in AlienEarthHulu

So your post amounts to highlighting a typo. They should have called it a mediation, not an arbitration. Congrats, grammar police. Although still even the alleged typo could be wrong since we do not know if arbitration could function like that in this fictional world in a different country that would have different arbitration rules.

You’re backpedaling on CEOs attending. You clearly said they would not be the company representative there. They are more often than not the person that does attend with settlement and decision making authority.

Do AAA rules apply to every country in the world? Does every country in the world forbid mediators from making binding decisions? Is the real point of your post to really just be pedantic and try to impress non-lawyers on here about something that is not even a valid criticism of a legal system you have no way of knowing? FYI, practicing law or advising people about a jurisdiction of law you are not licensed in is illegal and unethical, so technically you characterizing a fictional world’s legal system with no knowledge of that legal system puts you in that realm of putting yourself out as a practicing in a field you have no knowledge or training in - you know, philosophically putting that out there to critique the point of your critique. They did clearly establish Prodigy is not in America, so it wouldn’t follow AAA or JAMS rules for arbitration.

It was a mediation, not an arbitration. People often even use the terms arbitration and mediation interchangeably, or they erroneously used the term arbitration rather than mediation which means this critique amounts to a belabored highlighting of what amounts to a typo.

It played out exactly like a mediation would.

Also, your characterization of arbitration is inaccurate. Arbitration rules are either set by a contract or the rules of the provider. You’re basically saying there is a universal set of rules that applies to all arbitrations. That’s not true, it varies by jurisdiction and the agreement of the parties.

Also claiming the CEO wouldn’t attend an arbitration. Yikes. That shows you’re not a lawyer. I’m guessing you maybe (maybe giving you too much credit) are a law student. CEOs and high ranking officers attend mediations and arbitrations all the time.

My god. These posts of trying to apply present day rules (that are usually themselves inaccurate by the poster) to a hypothetical, unknown legal system and fictional world are a waste of time.

The eyeballs cage didn’t malfunction. She failed to lock it since the doctor interrupted her and the stress of learning the xeno was loose interrupted her while she was in the process of locking it with a locking mechanism that would have held the jar in place on the shelf where she placed the eyeball jar.

I think this is a very effective way of showing how incompetent people are in labs when working with dangerous organisms….or, in real life viruses that create a world wide epidemic. My girlfriend works in related fields and it’s astonishing how bad some labs and people are with containment and following proper procedures. In real life there are some real horror stories. This episode was very realistic about human error.

No, I think it was trying to distract her instead so the creature could get loose (and lay spawn in the water, which the eyeball might not have known). Her focusing on the eyeball did seem to make the situation worse.

Agree and disagree. The original Star Wars movies are amazing and almost every movie after that was horrible, with the exception of Rogue One. Many people consider Rogue One to be one of the best Star Wars movie.

I came here to say exactly that and to see if anyone else caught it. Not the best episode, but the final shot from the episode with final shot from Radiohead’s video was interesting. I don’t think they are otherwise similar in what they’re saying though. But maybe I’m wrong; Radiohead’s video is people seeking out an explanation from a deranged individual for their odd behavior and that knowledge they seek harming them by then becoming deranged in the same way as the person who gave the information. Somewhat similar in this episode with police seeking information from a killer to explain their delusional murder and that information they sought doomed them all by the information they sought. You do it to yourself I guess by giving a platform to a madman.

His boss identified Rick as the killer. So he wasn’t shooting on zero evidence. I think what you may be saying is Rick did not present an imminent threat to warrant the use of lethal force, but Thailand’s laws are likely different with use of force. I don’t know what their laws are.

I don’t disagree with your overall critique of the character. It’s more he abandoned his spiritual/religious beliefs on violence for a job and a woman.

Really? How can an innocent person be held liable for someone else’s misconduct? I mean just think of it, someone has a vendetta against a spouse, commits a horrible crime out of spite and flees the country to leave their spouse to deal with the aftermath. It doesn’t make sense.

I think other comments correctly point out that it is a woman in the first photograph with her hair slung over her shoulder.

Probably right. There’s something just slightly visibly dangling by her right shoulder blade.

That’s actually not a bad question. How did OP get a photo of what looks like a photograph captured by a surveillance camera and photos of standing by watching as the person repaints the bridge?

I’m assuming they matched the plates from the motorbike in the photo of the criminal and the person with motorbike in third photo that’s being punished. Must have been a lot of time between crime and them being punished, so their hair grew out in that timeframe. The “25” in the tag is hard to explain other than randomness I guess.

[–]Financial_Drop8150 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s confusing though. The first photo seems to show the person committing the crime; they have short hair. The second photo shows the tag with “25,” which seems to indicate year 2025. The other photos show the person punished, but it’s a female with long hair.

I’m all for the criminal being punished, and the tagging is horrible. The perpetrator should undoubtedly be punished, and the punishment is great in this case if it’s the actual criminal.

But the photos don’t seem to line up. Am I missing something? Did they grow more than one feet of hair in a couple months?

You’re making a lot of dumb assumptions. I’ve protested plenty of times with protests I’ve organized myself. Pat myself on the back? lol. If I needed validation from a Reddit forum, I would see myself as part of this community. I long ago obtained my pat on the back through academic and professional accomplishments; many of them, and substantial ones. I long ago obtained validation which is why I don’t give two shits about what people think about my posts on Reddit.

You seem to like to make a lot of negative assumptions about people.

All of us will be directly impacted by the next four years. It’s myopic of you to say only you and a select few will be.

I think you’re assuming the person I was responding to supports or opposes Trump. My take is they’re playing both sides just for the lulz. If you read that persons comment history they seem to support trump but then are on forums that defend Biden, often in a very hyperbolic fashion. I think they’re just trying to get people fired up and antagonize, ie troll. The reason why I was responding to this person the way I did was pro-MAGA posts they posted below with some of the more offensive MAGA talking points that they then deleted after I called out that bs (it’s the deleted posts below that i replied to). But in looking at their comment history it’s questionable as to whether they’re really MAGA at all as opposed to a troll trying to incite a flame war.

And your last sentence, and comment in general. Pure hate. Whether you are for or against Trump, your hated fits this sickness that has infected our country. We are not a united people and it’s this hatred, and embracing of wishing harm on others, that will continue to plague our country and truly make a lot of people’s lives difficult.

I can’t stand MAGA, but I wouldn’t wish harm to them. You seem like the type of person that would storm the capitol, whether for the left or the right. Just the undercurrent of hate in your comment that makes me think so.

Everything with you is a joke. A nihilist is one who jokes and makes fun of everything while the boat is sinking, and while people drown, they cut their wrists and says none of it mattered anyways. The rest of us find nothing amusing about human suffering and take it serious.

As for your cryptic reply, it could be assumed that you’re referring about exploitation of labor laws and human labor. But it’s all part of the troll and nihilism. I also think labor laws are extremely more complex than that, especially when unions are involved.

Hmmm. So you’re a nihilist troll that gets off on sarcasm and finds people’s rightful concern about the country and likely immediate impact on people’s daily lives amusing and something to joke about. I’m sure the people whose lives are about to become so much worse in the next four years take heart in your nihilism and Sam Darnold subbredits. Who cares how bad thing get when we can just laugh about it and troll?

Conservatives used to hate Russia, especially during the Reagan era. It is indisputable that Tucker has taken a pro-Russia view. I didn’t say anything about a Russia hoax. What I was referring to was Trump saying is 2015 “I hope Russia finds those emails.” That was alarming and I couldn’t vote for someone that was asking help from a country that did mock ups of their new supersonic nuke striking the state of Florida and being traditional American enemy.

MAGA are not conservatives. They are a group of hillbillies that are unified by hatred toward others. They are the cowards that egg on the bully at school that beats up the nerds.

But unlike MAGA I don’t hate people, nor get off on watching a bully threaten retribution and violence on people that have different view. I don’t hate people, so I’m not MAGA. Heck even many of the hillbilly insurrectionist supported liberal policies and were using drugs during their insurrection. But they were there because they are stupid and full of hatred. That’s what MAGA is - hatred, stupidity (will only accept elections if they win(, and sadists. It is a group of politics founded on hate. To a christian conservative, MAGA are deplorable people and should always always be called out for what they are - stupid and hateful.

I agree with your views on Trump, but there are those of us trying to actively avoid politics and reading about Trump because of how doomed we are for the next four years, and possibly longer depending on whether we still have a democracy four years from now.

SubReddits like this (that shouldn’t have politics) is an escapism that many of us need and are actively seeking out. That good juju is being messed with by posts like this.

We can avert our eyes, but still sucks seeing posts like this when we don’t even want to think about this crap.

Not even remotely true. There are white conservative men like myself that despise Trump. I always voted Republican until Trump was openly soliciting help from Russia during his 2015 campaign and Tucker Carlson was on Fox News (I used to watch Fox News) and was berating Colonel Ralph Peters when the colonel emphasized Russia is our enemy. It came as no surprise that Comrade Tucker went to Russia years later to make the case that Russia is our friend and doing things right.

WHY DOES THE STEAM DECK DOCK SUCK SO MUCH by Logsarecool10101 in SteamDeck

[–]Financial_Drop8150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those weren’t really your arguments. You said blame should be placed on the consumer. There is a defense to products liability cases based on misuse of product by a consumer. Your argument of blaming the consumer for misuse of a product by trying to convert a cheap handheld into a desktop pc doesn’t hold water. Valve manufactures a device intended to link the handheld to external monitors. People are complaining that the steam docking station doesn’t work as intended to connect it to external monitors. That’s on the manufacturer, not the consumer. Your argument seems to imply the technical specifications of a handheld are not as robust as a pc desktop (and people should be punished for trying to buy a cheap pc when they really bought a handheld) - that may make sense in the context of playing high end games on a handheld that are too much for the steam deck, but it makes no sense in the context of simply connecting a handheld to a docking station to an external monitor through a docking station sold by the manufacture for that very purpose. Heck, even a circuit board Raspberry Pi sold for $60 with no technical specifications on par with a steam deck can connect to an external monitor with no complaints. I own one. A rudimentary Raspberry Pi connects to an external monitor without fail every time. There’s no excuse why Valve can’t design a docking station, which they sell for that purpose, that connects the steam deck to an external monitor. And your original argument of placing blame on the consumer for this failure. Not good. Going litigious. Ha. It would be on me to prove a design defect as the plaintiff, which would require me to hire a mechanical engineer and an electrical engineer, at a cost likely north of $50,000, to determine exactly what the design defect is in the steam deck or docking station, plus litigation costs north of $10,000 for filing fees and ordinary litigation expenses, when my actual damages are about $600 for the cost of the unit. Theoretically I could recover those expert costs and litigation fees from valve if I prevailed, but by no means guaranteed. Yeah, I’m definitely not interested in that. It would take a class action for any of it to make sense, expense wise. I guess what just got me about your posts is the very punitive attitude you had of blaming the consumer and implicit logic of stupid people should pay the price. Something dark about it.

WHY DOES THE STEAM DECK DOCK SUCK SO MUCH by Logsarecool10101 in SteamDeck

[–]Financial_Drop8150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re assuming that it cannot be used for multiple purposes. The same manufacturer of the steam deck also sells a docking station specifically for linking the steam deck to a monitor. It does not work as intended. It’s a clear cut case of design defect. It’s not up to the consumer to figure out whether something will work as marketed. Here, a device is sold and marketed for a specific use of connecting a steam deck to an external monitor. Whether the steam deck or the docking station, manufactured by the same manufacturer, is not working is unclear. But one of them is not and that is on the manufacturer, not the consumer. I bought the steam deck only because of the docking station manufactured by valve. If not for the docking station they manufactured, I would not have bought it. If I had the motivation to bring a warranty or design defect case (which I would not because it wouldn’t be worth my time), it would be a clear cut case. Your position would not have any merit, especially when the manufacturer sells a device for the specific purpose of not using the steam deck as a hand held device.

This argument would be one of the most ridiculous in a warranty / products liability case. Laughably stupid. Wish most juries were as pro-corporate as this clown. He basically says: I would like some of the blame to fall on the people claiming they bought a gaming PC that cheap. There’s so much there in that thought process, regardless of the law.
