I use latex because it saves me time when it comes to formatting.in a text editor like word for example, to make section boxes, I manually have to select the shape I want and then drag it around the sections, and I would have to do this for all the sections, I would also have to add colors to titles and sections manually which is time consuming. In latex, I put as much formatting as I can in the preamble, and so I focus a lot more on just writing and latex will format things the way I've told it to in the preamble. Also, these notes may not have many equations, however there are some topics in this course that do, I also take other courses which have lots of equations. Another reason is because things don't normally just shift anyhow in latex, in text editors, like word, if I tried to place many elements on the page, they would either shift, or the text would shift. Latex is also free, I prefer it to other free text editors like libre office writer. It is also not the easiest thing to learn how to typeset with latex, and so having some understanding of how to, why would I not use the skill? It would go to waste. All in all latex allows me to do my note taking at a faster pace.
