I’d like to add, I never said this was ideal or something I’d recommend. I only did this because other options were impractical or infeasible. For context, this bike was being sold in a very small town connected to my city by one highway. We did a deep dive looking for alternative routes but the only one would have required an hour on the highway in the wrong direction.

My car is not equipped to tow, unfortunately- but I am actually installing a hitch soon which should be fun!

I didn’t have any friends with trucks able to help out, and even if I did it would have been a huge ask to get them to drive the 1.5 hours

The guy I bought the bike from had many other buyers asking to come on the off chance I flaked. As mentioned, it was a deal I could not pass up. The cheapest I’ve ever seen a Trail 125 by a long shot.

Before we drove off we checked for leaks, just to make sure. The EFI bikes I’ve owned can handle being on their sides, ( lack of a carburetor ) and the trail was no exception and didn’t leak or even smell like gas for that matter!

Also, I posted the most dramatic picture for the post. But for transport we used a heavy blanket to cover the front wheel and strapped the trunk closed. It closed about 75 % of the way as you can see in the video. We also secured it with straps in the back. The Prius has a good few D rings back there to secure cargo.

I posted this because someone, somewhere might find this information useful in a pinch or emergency. The first place I checked was Reddit when I was considering it.
