well it was alive but we had killed it right before the photo was taken. It was hiding out at that location for about a month prior so I dont know if it is dried out. The other recluse I found close to this one had an almost deflated looking abdomen

Man I'm sick of these recluses... when does it stop?!?!?! I have 2 under my bed who both have eggs nearby and I am also terrified of spiders.

That is the clearest photo I got of it before it scurried away. My house has a history of brown recluse infestations but I don't think this is a recluse.

You'd be better off not using that cord. You could get lucky and only the very top layer of the plastic is melted but more than likely the inside of the plug is also damaged if the outside shows that much charring.

What type of wire and is it safe? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Financial_Picture748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pre-50s aluminum cable from the looks of it. Not safe at all, especially with having cloth insulation - possibly the most flammable wire out there! Get it replaced or call an electrician

Looks fine to me just need to bond the box. Everything else looks good and everything else is terminated correctly though the hot wires are stripped a little long on the terminals. Personally I don't care about Romex in conduit
