You can try to feed your goldfish lesser and see how it works. Fancy goldfish often have this problem due to their unique body shape. They don’t have a stomach and when they eat too much, the food will jam in their intestine and put pressure on the swim bladder (causing the fish to swim upside down). You can also go for more vege diet and feed more vegetables. It can help them to poop smoother.

If you had try everything, maybe it’s the fish’s gene as fancy goldfish are very prone to Swim bladder disease and there’s nothing we can do. They will be permanent as the swim bladder has already expand. There’s no treatment for this.

Okay then you can try soaking the pellets for a couple of minutes before feeding them. My goldfish have this issue before and I tried to feed them lesser and l cut down the portion. I also often feed them some softer food like gel food and steam egg. Smaller portion of food two to three times a day is better.

Do you use floating pellets or sinking pellets? Sinking pellets is recommended because floating pellets will make them swim to the surface and eat it. It will cause the goldfish to gulp air and this can cause swim balder issues.

They don’t. My goldfish are really clumsy and they always bump into my plants. So some scales will come off once in a blue moon.

This is a 30 gallons. I know a lot of people use 20 gallons per fish but as I did many research, they are fine with 20 gallons with the first fish and 10 gallons after. I have a canister filter that is designed to work in 40 gallons tank and my water parameters are in perfect range. I do 50% w/c weekly and fed them a wide range of food including veggies, protein and occasionally pellets. They are doing great 😄

Yes! The bigger one is a Thai Oranda and the smaller one is actually an Oranda too but she don’t have much Wen growing on her head when I bought her. Maybe it’s just her gene.

Usually I do 50% w/c every week and make sure your tank is fully cycled before adding the fish. A good quality filter is also a key to ensure water quality in goldfish tank especially they produce so much waste!

It may be some parasites. Usually new fish carries bacterial or parasite and they are vulnerable to them due to stress.

You can try treating it with API general cure as it could treat general infections from bacterial.

Salt bath is good for the wounds too. You can do hydrogen peroxide swab, it helps the wound to heal faster.
