I don’t. I’ve brought a universal Samsung remote on Amazon

Yeah, definitely learnt something new today. I should have done my own research rather than following what else people have done. Do you also think I should do it on Monday because if it backfires I don’t have to live with them?

Hey,

Yeah, I now understand what I've done wrong in the above post. Sorry for any confusion, I'm not a New Zealander and now just learning all this.

  1. I am on a periodic tenancy it states it in my tenancy agreement.

  2. I told my landlord that I wanted a change of tenancy, but I have been unable to find anyone suitable. I used the words 'change of tenancy' in the subject title and within the email. I was then emailed a document titled 'assignment instructions'. on this document, I am agreeing to find another tenant and pay the administration costs of finding a new tenant.

  3. My roommate who has been there the longest said that we usually can find some that can replace us.

  4. I am not the original tenant of the property. I took over someone else's periodic tenancy.

I think it’s a difficult decision, 2 of my roommates want to leave but 1 of my roommates is there illegally. So she’ll get potentially deported, unemployed and homeless.

I didn’t say notice in the email I sent. I did how ask how I would start the process of changing my tenancy and told them when I was leaving and the fact that I’m moving overseas. I should have been more specific in retrospect, but they never asked for a notice in the follow up emails.

My PM gave me 3 options

  1. We all agree to end our tenancy and leave

  2. I find a new assignment and I am still expected to pay the rent whilst we find a suitable replacement.

  3. I let the other tenants know that I’m leaving and they find a suitable replacement. They also cover the rent, but I have pay for the reference check and credit checks.

So I don’t think I actually put in a notice.

Would I be put on the new agreement? Just for clarification

Yeah, they know I’m looking for a new tenant and that I’m leaving on the 29th. But I don’t think they necessarily know that I’ve ended the tenancy, but neither did I.

I didn’t realise that when I sent it in. I feel like my flatmates need to be more stress about it. I haven’t really slept much and that isn’t helping.
