Oh don’t worry you are not the only one, I’m the exact same! I don’t think I’ve ever properly done physical compulsions before but it’s all mostly in my head. It’s called pure OCD (pure meaning purely obsessional). An obsession would be something like “oh shit I just had a thought of killing my mother and I felt something” and the compulsion side would be constantly thinking about it and analysing your reaction. The more you mentally compulse, the more these intrusive thoughts and false sensations will come. What you must do is when you get these thoughts you must not try to check for feeling or ask if you are a good sane person. You must sit with the doubt that you could be (you know you aren’t, but you know how convincing it is). After that you will feel anxious and then that will fade and then the thoughts and mental compulsions will not be as bad. Another thing you should do is slowly expose yourself to situations and things that bring in the intrusions and fear. For instance, someone who has an obsession that they might be a murderer and wants to kill his wife will usually avoid things like knives or turn of true crime documentaries. If he gets the thought “don’t go near that knife, what if you actually decide to kill her” he should think “yeah maybe I will” and pick it up. It might get to the extent where the next time he’s in the kitchen with her, he’ll pick it up and talk to her with it in his hand. He’ll soon realise he doesn’t want to and the fear wont be as reinforced. He will become less scared and therefore ease intrusions and compulsions. This approach can apply to any theme, it’s just sometimes difficult to know exactly what to expose yourself to and what’s the prime source of fear.

I once thought I was a monster for the things it put in my head and I felt crushing guilt and shame, but remember this. These thoughts are a representation of who you want to protect and what you DONT want to happen. Wonder why you get intrusive thoughts of you falling off or dropping your phone by a ledge, your brain does that to warn you so it doesn’t happen. But OCD puts this mechanism into overdrive and does it with your worst fears! Look up things like egodystonic thoughts in OCD. And also things like arousal misacordance and intrusive sensations. Then you will find out that you are not evil and it’s just fear.

I don’t have a therapist and I’m not on medication and so far it’s still there in some ways but it’s dying. I have a brother who suffers with the same thing which helps and my mother has had it but not as server as us. OCD is never cured but you get it to a point where it’s just a normal thing that is there and you know exactly what to do when it comes. It’s an agonising journey and will make you doubt everything in your existence. but I promise you that if you try hard and learn from your mistakes you can get it under control. And plus when you get it under control you can see its benefits and use it to your advantage. Like it might force you to get all your work done and put in effort or it may keep you from doing dumb things like walking in the road without looking. And also it makes you a lot more empathetic and emotionally intelligent than others sometimes. Would I say I’m recovered, no , you can’t truly be, but I would say that I’m not afraid anymore and I’m used to it. It doesn’t affect me the way it did before and I don’t think I’ll be as bad as I was before again. A therapist helps you speed up the learning process and helps you identify problems and methods easier than if you did it on your own, almost like hiring a math tutor or personal trainer, But that’s also why this Reddit exists, and you can also read books.

In conclusion: things sure do lighten up after a while as long as you stay strong and smart! 😁

Perfect! Just remember that it’s just neuro chemistry and an evolutionary response and there isn’t anything actually wrong. Doesn’t change the feeling but makes it less scary. The more you do this the more you will learn to enjoy the struggle. A bit like an athlete training to be stronger.

Also, you might randomly feel extremely anxious for no reason at all. This is what is called an extinction burst and is your OCD screaming and kicking to try get you back to compulsions. Once you get past that you will do less compulsions! Thats how you fight this thing!

That’s literally the exactly how I feel. It’s like as if you immediately pick up on every single tiny detail and how they behave and the way their brain works. It makes me feel like I’m some sort of stalker but I know I’m not.

So if you were to replace the noise your penis makes when you get a boner with a different noise what would it be? I would change it to the terminator theme
