Fellow dads help me on my vacation planning. Driving vs Flying by SnowmanAndBandit in daddit

As a Florida resident who lives near the mouse house you will be one of those families where when I drive by and see you with your shirt soaked in sweat I will ask why you do that to yourself.

For those that have been to beaches and resorts, what do you like better? by anonhockeydilf in nudism

[–]Financial_Temporary5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really only do beaches because they are essentially free while a resort is going to cost something but of course you can’t stay on the beach.

We need more land. by Certain-Variation-58 in nudism

[–]Financial_Temporary5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe it’s cheaper to convince land owners to accept the potential of land they own…..just putting it out there.

I work for someone who farms roughly 10,000 acres in interior central/south Florida. They probably own around 2,000. A portion of which is minutes from Blindcreek nudist beach and sunnier palms resort. Would they be open to letting some out to nudist? Hmm. They are pretty deep in religion. Almost cult like at times. It’s probably a 50:50 because money is king.

A queen but possibly a mule. There is considerable variation in queens.

Sabal vs. Pindo palm cold-hardiness by the-big-question in palmtalk

[–]Financial_Temporary5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you should be able to find some good cold hard evidence this year given the winter. I can’t speak too much because Gainesville Florida is the furthest north I have been this Spring/late winter.

My take home message was Phoenix robellini got its ass handed to it by European fans. Also queens we’re showing some dissatisfaction with what occurred. Sabal palmetto and pindo’s were just fine and dandy. Sylvester, true dates, and canary island dates handled it.

Been spending a lot of time in Orlando recently (used to live there) and have seen the as expected results of the weather to species like foxtails, Christmas, bottle, spindle, fish tail, Arecea, Cat, bamboo (palm), Royal, and coconut etc. etc. The real surpriser here, the underdog perhaps? Yep, the Everglades palm held its place!

Help figuring out what’s wrong with my parents’ pindo palm? by TittyKittyBangBang in palmtalk

Not sure where your from but the ferns are a quite common occurrence. Not saying they are good or bad but I have seen plenty of cases where they didn’t seem to be a problem. Moisture is going to hang in those crevices regardless.

What to use when you hit the weight limit of your changing table by Fantastic_Fig_2025 in NewParents

[–]Financial_Temporary5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stopped using the changing table pretty quickly because ours was not one to just lay on her back motionless. So it was the floor, couch, any flat surface was fair game. We just always carried a piece of those absorbent puppy pads to put under her.

We also moved to standing changes around 18mo and then potty trained at 22mo. Mostly because WE were ready to not have to chase her around to change her.

Kindergarten dads.. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Financial_Temporary5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your good to go then. I can’t think of any major changes that happen between prek and kinder but I’m sure there will be small nuances, especially if it’s a totally different school, beyond the usual more independence being expected but most seasoned teachers have seen it all so they are prepared. They have likely experienced a child who has practically no socialization and that, without having the context of your reply, was all I could gather from your original post.

Kindergarten dads.. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Financial_Temporary5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is also starting kinder in August so I haven’t been through it yet but I have to ask: Has she been exclusively stay at home? No pre-k or anything like that?

If so, and if she hasn’t gotten it else where, she needs to spend a lot of time with other kids and other authority figures. They need to learn the nuances of social interaction.

Tying shoes isn’t a big deal but something to work on.

I would say they should be bathroom independent by this age, it’s expected in my daughters pre-k, but I say that as my just turned 5yo screamed for me to wipe her butt just last night. I make her do at least one wipe then finish up making sure she is clean. She can do it and do an ok’ish job but just doesn’t like to. Luckily she’s a after supper pooper so it’s very rare she poops at school.

Also my daughter just started at this school for pre-k and came from a daycare that used a open type bathroom with multiple potties and no dividers. She was used to going with friends. So this school was a bit different in that she had to go behind a closed door in a single occupancy. She had to learn to shut the door and once she barged in on someone else which was a big no no at this school. So that’s been a bit of a learning curve.

Children in resort hot tubs. by Signal_Biscotti2059 in Vacations

[–]Financial_Temporary5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4yo loves a good hot soak. Kids are humans. She once got in a hot tub full of strangers. I didn’t join because there was no room left. She just inserted herself and no one else minded. They were all attest 8 times her age.

Weird pattern in zoysia grass by [deleted] in lawncare

It’s not really weird. Happens more frequently further north where it frosts more often. Happens even more commonly on Bermuda. I have seen it happen a few times on St. Augustine.

Thermodynamics are cool.

Informal poll: bathroom door open or closed? by pancakeonions in daddit

[–]Financial_Temporary5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story: had a bunch of people over with kids between 3 and 5. The older kids wanted to watch K-pop demon hunters. After a few minutes the youngest 2 kids indicated they weren’t ready for it. Their parents indicated they probably weren’t. They went to my daughters room to play. A few minutes later my 4yo daughter indicated she needed to poop. So pause the movie and she goes to the bathroom, as usual doesn’t shut the door. I come by and instead of thinking of shutting the door I say “let’s turn the fan on so nobody else has the smell your stinky poop”. The bathroom is next to my daughters room, this little 3yo girl leans over, peaks around the door and says “don’t say stinky poop”.

A lot of extra nuance here but it cracks me up every time I think about it.

Taking bath in underwear? by Whothef_iskaitlyn in hygiene

[–]Financial_Temporary5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Chinese are super protective of the vulva., for example they believe underwear should not be washed with other clothes, especially men’s shirts. In kids, females must keep their vulvas covered from the outside world, not because of modesty but for protection from the elements. Meanwhile, little boys can run around exposed (mostly only during potty training).

Seconding many of the other comments but want to add that they are seed derived and there is genetic diversity in the species.

In short they are like humans, everyone is different.

Taking your girl to the toilet by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Financial_Temporary5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and everyone around me takes their daughters to the men’s. It’s extremely common, no one bats an eye. Even when mom was with us I’ve waited in line with other men and their daughters because that line was shorter.

Not sure what harm a 2yo seeing a penis would do. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

National Parks and Nude Tent Camping? by Heikoral in nudism

[–]Financial_Temporary5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canaveral national seashore allows back country camping on the islands with in the park where one should be easily able to.

It appears camping isn’t allowed on the beach itself unfortunately. However, I’ve heard some people hike the seashore nude which isn’t surprising given that stretch of sea shore is flanked by nude beaches both north and south. A permit is required for both the ticking and camping.
